The “rebate” is really a cash advance. A consequence to it is that it will reduce the amount of tax refund you will get back if you have overpaid. It does NOTHING but give money to people that haven’t paid taxes. It was cleverly designed to make the taxpayer think they are getting money back, when in fact, they don’t.
