would that really make insurance companies money because of speeding tickets? or becuase 55 would reduce the accidents and save lives?

I’ve personally reduced my speeds to 60mph on interstate the past 1.5 years and my fuel spending has risen minimally. but my insurance still goes up smile

sometimes it’s nice to look at the sites at less than 80

I have also slowed down.

The insurance companies raise premiums on people that get speeding tickets.  I guess that’s fine if you’re driving dangerously.  However paying more because you’re driving at a speed formally considered safe is a windfall to the insurance industry.  Back during the 55 mph Car and Driver did a lot of work on this issue.

Most accidents happen on roads that never were posted for higher speed limits.  If higher speeding limits were causing more accidents or injuries we’d see it in the accident rates in the last ten years or so.

How dumb can she be and still breath.

Worse than that, unless Republicans come up with a real candidate and that don’t mean Rudy or G. Allen we are going to be saying Madame Pres.

This is pandering and she doesn’t mean it.  But why even bring it up.  I think Speed Limits in the Dakotas should be 85.  At least when I’m there (Ias I will be in a couple weeks) it will be for me.

Got to keep those Mullahs fat and happy somehow.

When gas went over $2.25, I slowed down to 60 mph and used cruise control as much as possible. I am getting 50 more miles per tank. That’s about 18% increase in efficiency.

If, as your boy says, we are addicted to oil, bush could ask us too finally make
a national sacrifice during a global war (his words) We save money and buy less foreign oil.

Got to keep those fat Mullahs from funding terrorist somehow.

rbb: A refreshingly good post from you.  Yes, we have choices.  Of course, it’s a ridiculous statement that we are addicted to oil. We use it to make money. I don’t like the pandering to the environmental ayatolahs, either.

robert108 - 09:05am on 05/24/2006

That should be “ayatollahs”.

robert108 - 09:05am on 05/24/2006

rbb: It appears you don’t have to wait for the President to tell you what to do.  Why do you think the rest of us can’t think for ourselves?

robert108 - 09:05am on 05/24/2006

How is that going so far R?

realitybasedbob - 09:05am on 05/24/2006

Wait, I thought it was only Republicans who sold out to big business.

Robert108, it’s because government, and realitybasedbob, knows best, so they need to tell you how fast to drive.

Laura Ingraham mentioned that Texas may boost some roads up to 80 mph. I-80 in Nebraska is 75 mph.

If you want to go slow, go slow, just stay the heck out of the left lanes.

I slowed my pickup down to 60 mph and fingered-out that I was making $25/hour.

I managed to do that without Sillary’s help.
