They’re supposed to be, Jason, but they seem to have abandoned that principle in recent years. It is one of the things that is having a devestating effect on the party.

I think most Americans still reject big-government liberalism, but unless the GOP gets its act together we’re going to be stuck with said liberals whether we like it or not.

Wasn’t it Tom Delay that said a few months ago that there was no more fat to cut from the budget?  When I heard that I said the first thing that came to my mind, “YOU’RE A REPUBLICAN!” Aren’t they supposed to cut back on govenment spending?  Everything is really ass backwards for that party.

Republicans, aren’t they supposed to be for smaller government anyway?  It doesn’t make any sense to me anymore.  Our political parties are so messed up.

You’ll get no argument from me, Jason.

I’m sorry but I don’t get the connection with less government involvement and the Terri Schiavo case.  It was a Florida government court that sentence Terri to death by dehydration, a cruel ending for which you would be imprisoned if you did that to an animal.  All subsequent government actions by the Florida executive and the Federal legislature was to save Terri from this cruel fate.  The varous government agencies have an obligation to step in when a personal rights and equal protection under the law are denied as they were for Terri by another branch of the government.  These state and federal agencies did try to stop the execution but were stymied by the state and federal courts.
