No of course not, I don’t see any redeeming features of al Qeada…

Which implies in this context that he does see redeeming features in Hamas.  What redeeming features are those Mr. President?  Their continued terrorism, their continued exploitation of the Palestinian people, their commitment to destroy Israel or die trying?

Useful idiot. The very definition of the word.

Pilgrim - 11:04am on 04/21/2008

Well said kbiel.  And why would Carter’s children and grandchildren need his permission to support or endorse Obama.  If my grandfather was a former president I honestly would not ask for his permission to support someone.  I wonder if Carter’s family asks him who they are allowed to vote for as well?

Carter is a non-minister without a portfolio who is not negotiating, not undermining, and not really doing anything else worth mentioning EXCEPT following, and clearing, his conscience.
I admire his determination to do the right thing in his mind because I know he has a Christ-like spirit and intentions. HOWEVER…
Hamas sees him as some quasi-official person and do not understand when one of Mr. Bush’s minions (this is how they think, ok. Don’t blame me) can come over there on his own and talk about things WITHOUT any official imprimateur at all (they’ll see his visit as being to no purpose at all). The poor sods think they’ve counted some coup on the Israelis and will be insufferable - even more than usual - for a spell.
Carter truly wants to help establish peace in the world; however, he is a naif. He speaks God’s language of reconciliation and trust, but that’s a foreign language in Gaza. He doesn’t realize or care what reaction he causes, as long as his own conscience is clear.
Hamas is a group that keeps their people in a seige mentality unnecessarily and purposefully.  They JUST got back from attacking a major border crossing with Israel (where cooking oil, food and supplies are brought in to Gaza) and will never accept Israel, for one particular reason.  Islam never gives back any land. Once it is captured by Muslims it is ALWAYS going to be Muslim land. Not to mention, the Hamas leadership and cadres are getting fat off their people’s misery, just like Fatah did. As long as the money comes in, funding their imperial lifestyle and keeping the cadres bought, things will remain the same.  God help the Palestinian people, and save them from their leaders.
Poor Jimmy, he really doesn’t have a clue.

Can’t blame Jimmy for not meeting with al Qaeda.  After all, the accomodations with Hamas must be better than caves.

“I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” BO - Audacity of Hope - 2006.
Very Jimmy-like.

It’s nice to know that Carter is picky about which murderers he fallaciates.

Kenny,

Shouldn’t your post read:

It’s nice to know that Carter is picky about which murderers he fellates.

Who gives a damn about what Jimmy Carter does, says or who he sees. If the media would stop making a big deal about this trip, it would be irrelevant. Once again the media is dictating what is, and is not, important to the American public. Turn off the mikes and cameras and Carter will fade into obscurity.

I admire his determination to do the right thing in his mind because I know he has a Christ-like spirit and intentions.

That is a whooly subjective analysis of Carter and absent, IMO, any foundation. Doing the tight thing like being a peacemaker?

What peace has he ever acheived anywhere without coddling and appeasing a muderous dictator at the cost of the people that dictator abuses daily?

What price is his peace if he publicly condemns Israel and his own country on foreign soil, while praising and appeasing murderous terrorists that are dedicated to the annihilation of every Jew on earth and the complete destruction of Israel?

In what way does he portray a Christlike Spirit? By condemning Israel and supporting the people that kill Jews, “the Apple of His eye,” the people wherein His Son was born and to whom he has promised Israel forever?

If you are going to praise Jimmy Carter, The Crown Prince of Appeasement, please provide reasons for your compliments otherwise it is all gas.

Carter achieved the Camp David accords for one reason and one reason only: both sides wanted peace.

He fails to see that Hamas only wants war, more war, and more bloodshed.
