dirl126.  Is walking to work more energy efficient?  How about riding a bicycle?
Cooking your own food?  Growing your own vegetables?
Scientific fact:  Every transfer of power from one form to another involves inefficiency and waste of power.
Economic law:  Supply, demand and cost.  Let the market drive up the cost and the demand will decrease as people choose different ways of doing things unless the government interferes!

As to the pollution aspect, of course Greenpeace objects.  As far as I can tell, their goal is the end of our modern civilization.

You are completely right Carrick.  These environmental wackos want to push us back to the stone age.  Our politicians need to quit pandering to them just to get their endorsements.

Is this a real conversation? It is more than obvious that a changing climate results in climate change, how can you even argue that?

It is perfectly acceptable to postulate that the unusual amount of record breaking and devastating storms are a result of changing climate.

There is nothing un-American about that; love or hate the messenger.

The climate has always been changing, even before man.

The problem with Newt is that his objectives are likely a waste of money and counterproductive to what actually happens.

Since Mr Fahrenheit only lived a few hundred years ago, while we were in the little ice age it wouldn’t be at all unexpected to see record temperatures now as we recover to the temperatures that we saw before that.

Evan:

It is perfectly acceptable to postulate that the unusual amount of record breaking and devastating storms are a result of changing climate.

First what exactly is really “unusual”?  We haven’t had more storms, more violent storms or anything of that sort.  Compare weather extremes now (drought, rain, storms) against the 1930s, and you’ll find that period, which predates any human generated changes, to be more active on all fronts.  So again what is “unusual”?

Secondly, it’s been cooling for the last ten years, returning at least temporarily to a 1970’s like climate.  What is your mechanism of “climate change’” that will produce your supposed more extreme weather, when the climate has been actually getting milder?

Incidentally Gore’s profited perhaps an hundred million dollars with his scam.

The Alliance for Climate Change received 100% of the profits that Al Gore made from his book ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ and the proceeds from the movie. Paramount Classics who owns the movie has as well donated 5% of the box office sales to the Alliance for Climate Change.

Gore says that “warmer ocean temperatures” are causing this.

The quote when put back into context says, “and we’re seeing consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming,” He goes on to say, “It’s also important to note that the emerging consensus among the climate scientists is although any individual storm can’t be linked singularly to global warming,”

The problem is that ocean temperatures have if anything cooled.

Robert Bindschadler, a glaciologist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, collected temperatures from ships and buoys which, “showed a warming of all oceans.”

They tried this same BS after Katrina and were promptly informed that global warming, if it were happening, doesn’t cause more hurricanes.

Correct. There has not been conclusive evidence to make a correlation between ocean temperatures and the frequency of hurricanes or cyclones. Now, if Al Gore is a ‘total piece of garbage,’ then I expect much harsher language towards President Bush and McCain eating cake as the people in New Orleans were ‘rotting.’

McCain’s ‘spiritual advisor’ Pastor Hagee claims the cause of Katrina was because, “there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came.” Al Gore’s says that climate change might of increased the intensity of cyclone and Hagee that it was a man in the sky, which is more illogical?

My you talked me out of being so gung ho about McCain.

McCain’s ‘spiritual advisor’ Pastor Hagee

Nun-too-swift tries in vain to make the false equivalence with Obama’s mentor. Sad.
