Why not change the headline to: “A Local Reason To Fight Wal-Mart”?

Heh.

I’m no fan of Walmart but I don’t see it as their responsibility to check on someone else’s employees.

Illegal aliens are prone to commit crimes.  If they were not here they wouldn’t have committed this crime.

You missed my point, I’m afraid. It’s just as fair to blame this sexual molestation on Wal-Mart as it is to blame it on illegal immigration.

Yes, I agree with you that illegal immigration is a problem in our society (though we obviously disagree how big of a problem it is). But blaming illegal immigration for a case of alleged sexual molestation is absurd.

I suspect that there is indeed a positive link between illegal immigration and crime. It’s not an illogical proposition to suppose that people who are willing to break the immigration laws of a country probably have a skewed ethical view. I’d be very interested to see some hard data either confirming or discrediting this view.

On the other hand, I do think that anti-illegal immigration people go a bit far in playing up the link between illegal immigration and crime. It always strikes me as somehow an overly sweeping generalization.

I’m for reducing illegal immigration. I’m also for reducing crime. However, I’m against overly torturing rhetoric.

Right on. Look, I believe that there is a link between poverty and crime. But there’s no way I can then say that Wal-Mart will be responsible for the next crime an employee commits!

Those people shouldn’t have been in this country.  If we had enforced our laws that crime would not have happened.

Working at Walmart is still legal as far as I know.

Great reasoning.

Thank you. It is beyond ridiculous to blame illegal immigration for sexual molestation.

We might as well blame it on a lack of available birth control… if these two immigrants had never been born, they never would have molested those girls! rolleyes

First of all, they are not immigrants.  They are criminals-trespassers.

Secondly it’s completely reasonable to blame this case of illegal immigration for this crime of sexual molestation.

Third it would be none of our business what a couple in another country chooses to do regarding birth control.  On the other hand it is our business that these two jerks chose to disregard our laws in how they got here.
