McCain Out?

While it is far, far too early for any serious handicapping of the 2008 Presidential race, it is not too early to note that everyone’s favorite RINO, Arizona Senator John McCain, may have already performed the fatal feat of shooting himself in the foot, without first removing it from his own mouth.

On the Don Imus radio show, McCain said the following speaking about the First Amendment and the McCain-Feingold BCFA:

He also mentioned my abridgement of First Amendment rights, i.e. talking about campaign finance reform....I know that money corrupts....I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected, that has become corrupt. If I had my choice, I’d rather have the clean government.

McCain as always been a dilemma for me. As a Vietnam vet, I have a world of respect for John McCain, former POW. He is also one of our country’s most steadfast advocates on national defense and security issues. But neither, validates or excuses his huge errors in judgment or his voracious appetite for public attention and power.

By publicly reaffirming the idea that his notion of “clean government” should take precedence over the First Amendment, McCain has demonstrated quite convincingly that he is not qualified to hold the office of President.
