Kerry Equals Hitler
We all remember when Moveon.org allowed an ad comparing Bush to Hitler into one of its commercial contests. Now the Bush campaign has come out with an ad showing snippets of the Moveon.org ad (including imagery of Hitler) spliced in with clips of George Soros, Al Gore, Howard Dean, John Kerry, Michael Moore and Dick Gephardt.
Not all Bush backers are amused.
I agree with Smash on this point. Comparing one's opponent to someone like Adolf Hitler is not only over the top rhetoric but it also cheapens the memory of those who suffered under Hitler's harsh rule.
But I don't think that is what this Bush ad is about. I think this ad is about showing voters who the leaders on the left are right now. It shows them in all their rage and fury pouring vicious rhetoric from their flem-speckled lips. Bush is, in essence, saying "A vote for Kerry is a vote for these lunatics."
Its not about comparing John Kerry or Al Gore to Hitler, its about exposing Bush's loudest critics (which include Kerry, Gore, Moore, Dean, Gephardt and Moveon.org) in all their anger-laden glory.
What's wrong with that?

I said it before, and I'll say it again: comparing your political rivals to one of history's worst mass-murderers is a despicable tactic, which has no place in civil political debate.
Period.
