Hitchhiker’s Guide To Blogging

From Fish Cakes Blog...

I have just found, while perusing the iTunes UK music store, a hilarious track entitled: "The Hitchhiker's Guide To Blogging". The artist is named as Joby Talbot, though I believe it is read by Stephen Fry. It is basically an entry from the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy on blogging. It begins:

Blogging. Blogging is the act of regularly updating your website with some hum-drum information about your life, or a link to something you have just read on the internet, in the mistaken belief that anyone actually cares. It is the 21st centuary equivilant of hanging around railway stations writing pithy but erudite descriptions of the passing trains.

It goes on to recommend:

To take part in blogging, or, to use the appropriate terminology, to join the 'blogosphere', there are a couple of things you need to do. Firstly, you will need to increase the size of your ego. Without a swollen ego, you simply cannot acheive the levels of solipsism required by a modern blog.

And finally to note:

The other thing you should do to become a successful blogger is to change your website to use dotted lines and tiny, unreadable fonts wherever possible.

I think the book's just about hit the nail on the head. This blog would rapidly go down the toilet if my inflammed ego were not to keep it afloat, and I do indeed see myself as a kind of 21st century trainspotter. Viva la blogosphere!

P.S. Solipsism on Dictionary.com - hehe

Not that any of this goes for me... or Rob... smile
