As long as she is milking the public for big bucks from speaking engagements, books and TV shows appearances, maybe she can actually learn something about anything and if the rumors don’t come true, she can come back after 8 years of being out of government and become president like she always schemed to be.

In the long run, she can lecture, earn a good income through speaking, develop a coterie of advisers and supporters, take care of her family, not have the constant political warring on all flanks, and invest time in reflecting and studying issues, visit the country, meet leaders, etc. She’s not looking at 2012; but in eight years by 2016 she will be far more savvy

You can keep saying all of that crap but the fact remains that the Dems are going to lose a lot of seats in the 2010 elections.
Wether they become a minority party is unknown at this time. All these dems that voted for Cap and trade in conservative districts
are going to be in trouble.
I doubt it matters right now what she does because she doesn’t have a party to run with. The republicans seem content to mill around like lung shot buffalo. They still think they can build the mainstream big tent and they will come. The only tent they can build is the Reagan big tent and that is the solid conservative tent that says ... come and join us, we’re conservative and we want everybody that thinks conservative. American values have not changed unless one believes the popular media. I’d like to think she would start the conservative wing of the republican movement and call it the third party.
I’m late but VDH is precisely correct. My sense is that her career as an elected official is over but I would certainly vote for her if she ran.
Her future remains incandescent. And, far more importantly, she can proudly look herself in the mirror each morning. If she were to run for anything I’m hoping it would be as VP to a Romney or Thompson. After 8 years of seasoning while her boss is straightening out Obama’s ‘remaking’ of this greatest nation she can superbly represent us for the following 8 years - ‘20 to ‘28
