Not a blunder. They knew what they were doing. Demand for gas is inelastic—pr is irrelevant in that business (especially in Russia where the Gazprom people also happen to control the government). The Gazprom oligarchs know that they can do whatever they want and people will just have to STFU and take it.
The name they used comes extremely close to the Russian version of the right word. So it definitely wasn’t an oversight.
