Back in the day when I tried helping people for a living, B. F. Skinner was one of my study books. His reality therapy theory seemed like the clear deal. Then I learned you cannot fix lemons, be they machines or people. Another thing I learned is that given the chance, most people will gladly let you be responsible for their messed up lives. In retrospect, I help far more people now, by fixing roads, than I ever did in the drug and alcohol racket. Reality therapy works great for responsible people, but then, they hardly need help in the first place.
