It seems as if common sense goes out the window when people are in a perceived “crisis”. The recent H1N1 vaccine clinics in the Fargo-Moorhead area are good examples of this.
People are standing in crowded lines for hours and exposing themselves to potential carriers of H1N1, seasonal flu, and the common cold. I guess the health officials running these walk-in clinics didn’t think that one through.
But how else are they going to administer thousands of limited vaccines on a first come basis if they don’t have everyone show up at the same time and stand in line?.... I guess they never heard of writing names down in appointment books and telling people what time to show up.
This would not only help with limiting peoples’ exposure to other illnesses, but it would also help with figuring out where and when to send all these rare H1N1 vaccines. Clay County had 750 doses left over. If they would have known the turnout ahead of time, these doses could have been made available somewhere else.
But these are just my thoughts, maybe I’m wrong. Perhaps a crisis is in fact too good to waste. Now who’s up for a serving of Government Healthcare?
