Would You Let Your Daughter Do This?

Ugh...

Cute-as-a-button child star Dakota Fanning, who turned 12 in February, is venturing into sexually disturbing territory in a movie being filmed in North Carolina.

The screenplay for "Hounddog" - a dark story of abuse, violence and Elvis Presley adulation in the rural South, written and directed by Deborah Kampmeier - calls for Fanning's character to be raped in one explicit scene and to appear naked or clad only in "underpants" in several other horrifying moments.

Fanning's mother, Joy, and her Hollywood agent, Cindy Osbrink, see the movie as a possible Oscar vehicle for the pint-size star.

I don't care how many Oscars this might get Fanning, having a twelve-year-old parade around topless in a movie (and engage - apparently nude - in a simulated rape scene with an adult) is just beyond the pale.

How despicable these Hollywood people are sometimes.

So, now Hollywood is in the “kiddie porn” business?  I guess they will call it “art”.  Disgusting.

Aren’t there laws against this sort of thing?  I’m with you, Rob; if someone wanted to have one of my daughters “star” in that kind of “art,” I’d tell them they’ve got one minute to get out of my sight, and if they don’t, they’d better be able to run faster than 850’/second.

Nice to hear that Hollywood is preparing another slander against the South, too.  Maybe Fanning’s co-stars will be some of those boys from “Deliverance” or something like that.

And when nobody goes to see this piece of crap, they will whine like victims about their “free speech rights”.  Wanna bet?

Dakota Fanning is really an accomplished actress
Burning Man, I am Sam
Body of Work
They will shoot objectional parts with adult body doubles. Union (SAG) child actors have protections, tutors, and who knows what else on production.

The storyline, set in the South in 1961, revolves around a precocious girl who overcomes the negative effects of abuse by singing and dancing like Elvis.
The girl will be played by Dakota Fanning.

Sounds like an Oscar vehicle for Dakota.
Factor in the $4-6-10 Million+per cent of world box office + DVD+ TV.

Should be CPS in North Carolina, which goes by county.  My name links Durham County’s.

One more comment; if you want to contact someone, you must give your name if you want them to investigate fully.  Anonymous referrals do not justify a warrant.

I’m not above that.

According to Federal Law depictions of sexual acts, even if nudity isn’t present, of underaged persons can be considered child pornography.

It reminds me of the movie the Professional.  I thought that one was way over the line with a young actress.

TW:  That was the European version only.  In the US release, that particular scene didn’t appear.  It is on the DVD, though.  Altogether, a great movie, though, especially without the absolutely unnecessary sex scene.

I only watched the VHS version.

However I was uncomfortable with the “sexual” aspects of that movie.

IMO it wasn’t a great movie.

On a positive note, for the copy cats and the likeminded child rapist who are sure to add this to thier DVD collection, life, as they know it, just became more interesting.

WASHINGTON—Convicted child molesters would be listed on a national Internet database and would face a felony charge for failing to update their whereabouts under a bill the Senate approved Thursday.

The bill was designed to help police find more than 100,000 such sex offenders by creating the first national online listing available to the public and searchable by ZIP code. It also called for harsh federal punishment for sexually assaulting children, including the possibility of the death penalty when a victim is murdered.

Child advocates have called the bill the most sweeping sex offender legislation to target pedophiles in years. It would:
—Establish a comprehensive federal DNA database of material collected from convicted molesters, and procedures for the routine DNA collection and comparison to the database when someone has been convicted of such an offense.
—Provide federal funding for states to track pedophiles using global positioning devices.
—Allow victims of child abuse to sue their molesters.
—Impose a mandatory minimum sentence of 30 years for raping a child.
—Impose a mandatory 10-year penalty for sex trafficking offenses involving children and for coercing child prostitution.
—Increase minimum sentences for molesters who travel between states.

How much a deterent that is, I don’t know, but every little bit helps.

There is no limit to the despicable depth to which our “Entertainment” media has sunk.

SICK SICK SICK SICK SICK

When the hammer comes down on this kind of thing and it ultimately will because they will push and push the envelope until it must they will yell free speach and censorship.

They will have brought it on themselves pure and simple.

Having not seen the movie, I could not say for certain, but wouldn’t the point be to portray child abuse in a negative light?  The point is about how Dakota’s character heals and the guilty party is punished?

You all seem to think that this rape scene is going to be pornographic.  I do not think that is its intention.

The rape scene may be necessary.

Corrupting the morals of a minor may be necessary? For what? Maximizing profits? Expanding audience base? Desensitizing people as regards children and sex? Exactly where are you going with this advocation of child-porn? That is what this is according to Fedreal laws, and many state’s child-porn statutes. So, where were you going with that comment?

Antigone, you’ve got to distinguish between essentials of a plot, and essentials of a normal childhood.  The fact of the matter here is that to get a believeable rape scene, you pretty much need to put a 12 year old girl in the situation of rape.  That’s child abuse, plain and simple.

I haven’t seen this one yet, but, this reminds me of the public reaction of Taxi Driver with the young Jodi Foster.

simulated is not sex, thus it is not child porn.  besides, 12 year olds know what they are doing.  funny thing is how the same people who whine on here for poor Dakota are the same ones who would likely throw the book at and treat any 12 year as an adult (even life or capital sentences) if said 12 year old committed a crime.  such hipocracy in our society.

Also, where is the outrage of real incidents such as where our brave military heros in uniform raped and murdered that 16 year old Iraqi girl (only 4 years older than Dakota).  Worry about real life people.  I bet half of you think Bert and Ernie are gay too.

Also, it is not hypocritical to punish criminals, be they child pornographers or young murderers(who may have been stimulated by just such a movie).

Terry, if I were to catch someone “simulating” raping one of my daughters, they’d be lucky if the police got to deal with the matter.  There is such a thing as stealing a child’s innocence, and this scenario certainly qualifies.

Unless, of course, Hollywood has already done so to her, but that’s still a case for social services.

Like it or not, this movie is protected by the 1st amendment as it does not actually dipict actual sexual activity.  I thought that was what made our nation special.  As for the rape and murder of the Iraqi girl….nice to see the same weak arguments popping up again as in the case of Abu Ghraib….where are most of those “innocent” soldiers now?  Oh yea….PRISON!  As for this case, interesting that arrests of former (the mental case) soldiers, and current members of the military have already been made, and some have already turned witness against the others.  But, I’m sure you’re right….it’s all made up to make President Bush look bad (as if he needs any help).  Heaven for bid that our “heros in uniform” could actually be more “sick” than Hollywood “is.”

Terry, I cannot fathom the sort of stupidity that goes into the idea that our nation is “special” because of displays of child pornography, simulated or no.

The purpose of government shouldn’t be to do good, but simply to refrain from doing evil.

Terry, the 1st Amendment does not give me a right to commit a crime in the production of a movie, and I believe it is a crime in North Carolina to expose a girl of 12 to sexual situations.

Yes, she might be resilient—though there are studies that do demonstrate problems when kids are exposed to this kind of thing.  The fact of the matter is, however, that this sort of thing is child abuse.

Im pretty sure they will use a body double thats of age. she will probably never be naked, and I bet she will only have to make a couple face shots for the rape scene. I think your all freaking out a little too much.

Im not worried at all about her making the video, Im more worried about her watching it.

“Great” bogus posts by all the “pedos” there at the end…like n I.Q. above 80 would believe those posts are real.  As for this great crime in North Carolina.  Don’t you realize that state officials would be involved in some way in the production given that an underaged juvenile is working in the state….regardless of the fact that it is a movie production & the content not withstanding.  Must not be a crime as all of the dime store lawyers posting on here would have you believe.  You’d think they were making the movie in secret in some cheap motel to keep one step ahead of the authorities.  Please use common sense before posting.  If you don’t like the law(s)...move to change them…don’t make up the law as being what you think it is or should be.  As for the rapists in uniform (was wrong before…the girl who was raped and murder by U.S. Soldiers was only 15…3 years older than Dakota)...I take no great pleasure in what they did (remember…one soldier was discharged for mental problems before the rape and murder stuff came to light).  But, sick is sick…and actually raping and murdering a human being (regardless of age, nationality, etc.) is far sicker than anything Hollywood could ever produce.  Give up the double standards in here.  If for the fact that the rapists in question wore a uniform of the United States Armed Forces…virtually everyone in here would be calling for them to be strung up….without benefit of trial if it were possible.  Being a soldier does not garner you any special benefits in my book..nor should it.  Frankly, the military has been quite lax in seeing that potential soldiers meet basic standards…..leaving the whack jobs to be weeded out later on just so recruiters can meet their quotas.  And that is a fact…like it or lump it.
