Would Stopping Illegal Immigration Bolster Socialism South Of The Border?

I’m not sure I buy into the hypothesis, but it may be one way to get the left on the side of border enforcement.

Even if stopping the flow of illegal immigrants into this country bolstered socialism south of the border I’m not sure that’d be such a terrible thing.

Better there than here.

Of course, the optimal solution to the illegal immigration problem should not only include staunch enforcement of our border and immigration laws but also relaxed regulation of legal immigration and trade with countries south of the border. The more we open up our economy to economies south of the border the more their economies will improve, something that will in turn serve as a disincentive to illegal immigration.

And the increased level of free trade would promote free market economies instead of markets centrally controlled by socialist regimes.

One method to stop illegal immigration is to root out socialism in our country. If people weren’t dependent on the government, they would have to work, therefore filling the less desireable jobs that illegal immigrants work at and seek in our country. In other words, put our own citizens to work. One problem with making my suggestion work is some of the welfare people have made themselves completely unemployable due to life choices such as drugs and alcohol. As far as “free trade” solving the immigration issue, I would probably disagree with that. My understanding of Mexico is that its business environment is corrupt and I don’t see how “free trade” crossing an arbitrary line in the desert will promote a free market within Mexico. All it will do is give us cheap automotive parts that don’t work which our mechanics complain about.
