Would Our Elected Lice have The Courage To Lead Us In A Major War?
Because of the continual pulpit pounding from the Democrats and their allies on the far left concerning our casualties I thought I’d do a little research into the number of casualties from some of our past conflicts that lasted roughly as long as our involvement in Iraq. The numbers I found are staggering. There is absolutely no comparison. And, no, I’m not saying that it’s alright to lose even a single soldier in any conflict. I just wanted to bring some perspective to the issue. So, without further ado, here’s a very grim butcher’s bill:
Killed in action or died of their wounds:
Iraq - 2,863. Death by disease or accident: 627. Total: 3,490.
American Civil War - (U.S.) 110,070. Disease or accident: 250,152 Total: 360,222
Both are four year conflicts. Another four year war, WWll, produced the following casualties:
Killed in action or died of their wounds: 291,557. Disease or accident: 113,842. Total: 405,399
The three year Korean conflict produced to following casualties:
Killed in action or died of their wounds: 33,741. Disease or accident: 2,827. Total: 36,568
Those numbers are absolutely horrifying. I wonder if this country has the courage to face another all-out war that would produce a death rate like those. And bear in mind, I didn’t list the wounded, just the deaths. That number is truly astounding. If our leadership in Washington panics and runs over what is essentially a limited war in Iraq, what would they do if they were face-to-face with an enemy who had the will and the means to kill hundreds of thousands of our troops?
Based on what I see, I think they’d surrender our very way of life before they would commit to a life and death fight. Take a look at what we’ve elected to lead us folks. We’re in trouble.
