Woman Says 71 Y/O Retired Marine Shouldn’t Have Shot Her Grandson - While He was Robbing People

Guess what, Zippy?

If you try to force me into a bathroom at gun point, then Darwin steps in:

PLANTATION, Fla.—The family of one of the men who was shot by a retired United States Marine while they attempted to rob a Subway sandwich shop said the customer shouldn’t have pulled the trigger.

According to Plantation police, two armed men barged into the Subway at 1949 Pine Island Road shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday, demanding money from the employee behind the counter. When they tried to force John Lovell into the bathroom, he pulled out a gun and shot both men, police said.

Donicio Arrindell, 22, was shot in the head and later died at the hospital. Fredrick Gadson, 21, was shot in the chest and ran from the Subway, but police found him in hiding in some bushes on the property of a nearby BankAtlantic.

To the grandmother: sorry for your loss. Better parenting maybe could have helped? I’m just asking.

And to the retired Marine. OOOO-RAHHH!!!!

Hope you’re okay, brother. You did the right thing. God bless.

Thanks to Ace for this one.

Perhaps her little piece of shit should not have been robbing people. There is an original thought. Something that has never passed through her mind, obviously.

This is just one of the benefits of the 2nd Amendment:  An innocent civilian or retired Marine is allowed to defend himself from felons.  He should be given another medal.  No way should this be turned around, “he shouldn’t have pulled the trigger!” No. way.  They should not have been robbing this store, threatening elderly patrons and innocent civilians.  In SC, we also protect heroes like this from frivolous law suits.  It is called Castle Defense.

If the liberals had not so screwed around with the 2nd Amendment and citizens were allowed to own and pack heat in their daily lives, I believe there is a very good chance these little shits would not have been brave enough to commit a robbery, as they would have known there was a high risk someone might be around that might shoot their little butts.

I do have one complaint about the former serving Marine (we never retire), only one guy died; so that second shot was almost a “Maggie’s Drawers,” go back to the shooting range and tighten up the aim. Otherwise, great job!

"He should not have taken the law in his hands,” said Rosa Jones, Gadson’s grandmother.
And just what was your grandson doing with the law?
Yes, by all means Grandma, retired Marine Lovell most certainly should waited for your grandson to kill him, before ever thinking of confronting your grandson and friend scumbag hoodlums .. rolleyes
John Lovell was threaten and had a 100% justifiable reason to shoot those two thugs. End of story. Case closed.

It’s all part of that cultural disconnect created by several generations of Leftist Groupthink holding that there are no criminals, that minorities and other select groups are entitled and that there is no right and wrong, unless it is of course a Reverend Wright-kinda’ attitude that there needs to be restitution paid.

Part and parcel with that line of Leftist Thought is that when Thugs are workin’ it’s their job to get paid and up to the victims just to do the payin.  They are not supposed to fight back.

Hell, they’re not even supposed to have guns.

I’ll bet those little pricks were surprised as hell when the slugs hit them.

Get some.

Chief, I’m not from your neck of the woods but isn’t that law limited to home invasion? I’m thinking that it does, we have the same type of law here in the flyover hoosierbilly state where it applies strictly to home (read house) invasion. There are other laws that apply to muggers, etc. in public establishments here, however they aren’t quite as liberal (forgive the my use of the term) as to how and when to apply lethal force as a home invasion.

Sometimes we forget that old people had younf lives. Sme of them were formidable - even dangerous - once upon a time. And sometimes they don’t forget what they were. Just like the man in this article. Check out this short story called “Last Wishes”. It says exacly that.

Doesn’t matter whether you call it “Castle Defense” or back yard fence. The bottom line is that it is self defense. Too many times those thugs kill someone just because they can.

Why take the chance?

Philosophically I agree, however, atleast in my state different laws, and therefor different circumstances apply. For example, if an intruder allows him/her self into my house I’m well within my right to drop the hammer, however, if their breaking into my shed to steal my lawn mower or such since I’m not personally at risk at the moment a different law applies. Now if I approach them and they produce a weapon to threaten me, another law applies. Thus why I asked.

Dude, thanks!

Please note that from time to time, I have to go off-net for long stretches when the workload prevents me from playing in the fora.

So if I don’t respond sometimes, I’m not being snooty, just paying the bills.

That was great, thanks Pilgrim.

This kinda fits in to this morning’s Mac Talk on 1310am when they were talking about the grand jury not indicting Joe Horn.  (guy in TX that shot the illegals that were burglarizing his neighbor’s house while he was on 911)

Mac pretty much said it wasn’t the right thing to do but there was no way he would prosecute the guy for it.  I totally agree.

Spart, here in PA the standard is do you feel your life is in imminent danger. Location has little to do with it.

Pil, my Mom loved that story! Far too many people do not understand that simply because someone is old does not mean they are incapable of blowing you right out of your life.

Ok great, two less niggaz, but it doesnt help that much if you dont do something about the breaders, You can kill all the males you want, but if you dont do someting about the females what is the point.

I would be considered very very pro life anti abortion in every way.  Of course one must consider all involved.  There are possible exceptions.

OK, This one.

Spartacus.  Castle Defense / Doctrine:

Castle Doctrine, in essence, simply places into law what is a fundamental right: self-defense. If a person is in a place he or she has a right to be—in the front yard, on the road, working in their office, strolling in the park—and is confronted by an armed predator, he or she can respond in force in defense of their lives.

South Carolina passed ours in June of 2006.

About six months later, here is one of the front page stories of a female hero who used it to do just about the same as the Marine did.

We in the United States are not “subjects” like people in England, Canada or Australia.  We are free citizens but unfortunately, must work hard to keep ourselves and our country free from communists, socialists and democrats who believe in big brother government.

On a more serious note, for those who like good Bible sense on a deal like this. God is pretty clear who he is against.

It’s proper to come against violently those who fit this role:
Isiah 59:7
Their feet run to evil,
And they hasten to shed innocent blood;
Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity,
Devastation and destruction are in their highways.

In fact all of Isiah 59 is clear. When I think of it Isiah 59 is an indictment of radical abortionists too.

I didn’t mean to make light of Abortion but protecting innocent blood from the likes of those in Isiah 59 is right and proper.

Ever the preacher.

Granny, who did such a swell job of raising the little mutt, is apparently all done grieving and has now begun to do the prep work for her law suit against the Marine, the convenience store, the gun manufacturer, the bullet manufacturer, the City of Miami, the Marine Corp., and the estate of the mutt’s partner in crime for talking him into robbing the store in the first place.

Lawyers should love the Second Amendment.
