With Iraq Not Going How They Want, Democrats Begin New “Balancing Act” With Rhetoric
And, of course, when I say the war isn’t going how Democrats want I mean we aren’t losing.
As violence declines in Baghdad, the leading Democratic presidential candidates are undertaking a new and challenging balancing act on Iraq: acknowledging that success, trying to shift the focus to the lack of political progress there, and highlighting more domestic concerns like health care and the economy.
To those of us who aren’t apologists for defeatist Democrats, these tactics are called “moving the goal posts” and “changing the subject,” respectively.
