Winning The War At Home: Democrats Give Up Trying To Block Iraq Funding
I think they’d reached a point of diminishing returns on the war funding issue. It is, after all, an election season and while American feelings about Iraq are mixed (at best), pulling funding out from under the troops who are still on the battlefield isn’t something that’s going to play well with most Americans.
And with the man likely to be at the top of their national ballots already smarting from complaints that he’s too far to the left, they just can’t afford to put an exclamation point at the end of that criticism.
It’s just another move from Democrats which proves that they care more about how their position on Iraq makes them look rather than what their position on Iraq means for the country and the world.
