Will North Dakota Ever Get A US Attorney Appointment?

I’ve posted a couple of times about the delay in appointing a new US Attorney for North Dakota to replace Drew Wrigley who stepped down earlier this year.
According to sources in liberal circles in the state, the delay has to do with a stand off between well-connected North Dakota Democrat money man Tim Purdon (the establishment pick) and current assistant US Attorney Jan Morley (the affirmative action pick seeing as how she’d be North Dakota’s first female and first Native American US Attorney). Running a distant third is former state legislator Jasper Schneider but most see him as a lightweight. He has no trial experience, he was a personal injury lawyer and he’s already been given a cushy appointment handing out government checks.
There have been other names tossed about as possible appointees – lawyers Bill Brudvik and Rebecca Thiem – but my sources tell me it’s really between Purdon and Morley.
And apparently Obama’s people can’t make up their mind.
Senator Dorgan (who along with Senator Conrad is key to the appointment process) has aired his “frustration” about the appointment in the media a couple of times now, but still nothing is coming down the pipe.
Indicating either that the Obama administration is rather incompetent or there is a serious civil war going on among North Dakota liberals.
Or perhaps a mix of both.
