Why Would Anyone Think Congress Can Run The Auto Industry Better Than Ford And GM?

I just saw Senator Menendez take a quick break from scolding auto industry executives in the Senate hearings today to tell Fox News that Congress needs to be involved in restructuring the bailed out auto companies if any bailout passes.
I’m looking at the state of the government budget, and the massive federal debt, and wondering why anyone thinks that would be a good idea.

That’s always the question as far as govt takeover is concerned, Rob. Good one!

By then supporting the banks in their illegal and
    predatory loan activities…

More bullshit; no one was forced to take out an unaffordable loan; they chose to do that. The only “predatory lenders” are inner city loan sharks, another product of leftie social engineering.

The big problem is that detroit makes unattractive, cars with poor legroom and headroom, have no get-up-and-go, and cost a fortune in repairs.

To the extent that the government has helped design cars, almost everything the government requires is something I would prefer not to have on a car.

    I don’t want a 3rd brake light.

I don’t want headlights that stay on all the time.

I don’t want a super low bumber on my truck.

I could care less about having an airbag.

If congress just left the auto makers alone, and removed a lot of the regulations, Detroit would probably make something I’d actually want to drive.

By stepping outside of the authority granted to them by the Constitution, meddling in private industry, and in a large part causing the economic problems that have adversely affected the domestic auto industry, the federal and state governments have made every taxpayer liable should they fail. This money should be in the form of a settlement instead of a loan.

By doing the same thing in the banking industry, they have also made us liable for bank failures. By then supporting the banks in their illegal and predatory loan activities the government is complicit and we are now liable to every home owner who’s property is foreclosed on and every business that has been forced to close because of banking practices.

If Bob Corker, the Senator from Tennessee wants to run them I am all for it. Man, I really enjoyed watching him beat the crap out of the Big 3 today and especially the UAW buffoon.

Corker was good, but I still don’t think Congress has any business running private industry.
