Why The Republican Party Is In The Minority

Because of public opinions like these:

“When it comes to [see below], which party do you think would do a better job—the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, or both about the same? If you think that neither would do a good job, please just say so.”

  Controlling government spending
  Democrats - 36
  Republicans - 20
  Both - 14
  Neither - 27
  Unsure - 3

  Dealing with Taxes
  Democrats - 36
  Republicans - 27
  Both - 14
  Neither - 18
  Unsure - 5

When Republicans were elected to the majority in 1994 they were the party of limited government, lower taxes and lower spending.  Now, today, a year after they were voted into the minority, they’re seen as the party of bigger taxes and bigger spending.

Which is why, more than anything up to and including Iraq, Republicans are in the minority.
