Why The Republican Party Is In The Minority

Because of public opinions like these:

“When it comes to [see below], which party do you think would do a better job — the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, or both about the same? If you think that neither would do a good job, please just say so.”
Controlling government spending
Democrats – 36
Republicans – 20
Both – 14
Neither – 27
Unsure – 3
Dealing with Taxes
Democrats – 36
Republicans – 27
Both – 14
Neither – 18
Unsure – 5

When Republicans were elected to the majority in 1994 they were the party of limited government, lower taxes and lower spending. Now, today, a year after they were voted into the minority, they’re seen as the party of bigger taxes and bigger spending.
Which is why, more than anything up to and including Iraq, Republicans are in the minority.

TW: Exactly. To regard the Dems as being anywhere near fiscally responsible is obviously due to heavy propaganda, not their behavior in office.

The truth is that the Democrats are much worse, but since the press carries their lies for them they can get away with it?

Perhaps the ‘middle-of-the-road’ Centrist voter might be the problem?

Before 9/11/2001 politics was about pleasing the moderate voter who likes their own taxes to be low yet desires all the goodies liberal policies can provide.

For example, Republicans would have never won the 2000 election without giving into AARP goodies demands ie Medicare perscription drug plan.

    When Americans demand:

‘Government stay out of our bedroom BUT give us free health care, free art, free education, free housing, free abortions, cheap gas, an AIDS cure, a stem-cell cure-all for all disease, stop the hate, end violence, say no to war and while you’re at it feed, house, cloth and provide health care all the world poor’

one can safely state that the Centrist voter is as Liberal as is the Progressive Left.

That said, most Americans will only vote for Republican/Conservative policies when they are directly suffering in the misery of big government control. Remember the misery under Jimmy Carter brought the hopeful Ronald Reagan. Here in NYC Guiliani won because so many Liberal NYer’s were suffering in miserable collectivist hell so they elected a hero to come and save them.

I use to be a republican in the old days…

I doubt it. Liberaltarians are full of BS. If you want to support American values, go conservative.

If Americans see the Democrats as better on “controlling government spending”, then maybe there is some truth to America being filled with a majority of idiots.

I use to be a republican in the old days, the closest thing to a old school republican are Libertarians. SO my answer is the Libertarians could do a better job

Dem’s get elected in 08 just watch the taxes and spending.

I used to be a Liberal until I was mugged by reality on 9/11/2001.

That said, if Ron Paul is representive of Libertarianism then why not just vote for George Soros.
