Why The President Should Veto The Transportation Bill

Share |

Because it contains beauties like this one:

$223 million to build a bridge nearly as long as the Golden Gate and higher than the Brooklyn Bridge, to connect the town of Ketchikan (population 8,900) to the city airport on Gravina Island (population 50). Currently, the link is provided by a 10-minute ferry ride that has worked for years

That just just one of several senseless projects in Alaska priced out in the hundreds of millions of tax dollars, all for a state where, instead of paying a sales tax, citizens get money back from the government.
I was born in Alaska. I’ve been to Ketchikan and Gravina Island. They don’t need this bridge.
If the President is ever going to use his veto, now would be a good time.

don myers is a strange little turd!
Maybe he got beat up by a black, racist hooker, or maybe he is a black, racist hooker.

“Racist” = When someone does not agree with a liberal.

“Need” = When someone wants someone else’s money.

“Greed” = When someone wants to keep their money.

“Compassion” = When a liberal facilitates the transfer from what he sees as the greedy to the needy.

“Equal Opportunity Employer” = Majorities need not apply.

“Affirmative Action” = I refuse to make it on my own.

To be a democrat you have to believe that conservatives are racists,…but that black people couldn’t make it without your help.

I love it !!!!!!!!!!!! It’s so true, and sad that it is so true!

  3. Don Myers on May 18th, 2005 at 11:05 am

Simple—they’re agenda is racist, xenophobic, and hatefilled. Which of those things are you in favor of?

  4. Aaron on May 18th, 2005 at 11:06 am

    Don~
What is the problem if Bush is ideologically similiar to Dobson, Wildmon, and Phelps… Just because they think along similar lines does not mean that the latter three control Bush…

The “taliban” of the right (among others) elected Bush because he was a man that thought along similar lines and would push an agenda that they liked. What is the problem exactly?

  5. Aaron on May 18th, 2005 at 12:05 pm

Aaron, I’m not sure that I’d say the President is ideologically similar to Fred “Got Hates Fags” Phelps.

Honestly, I don’ even know who the latter two of Don’s list are, I just am familiar with Dobson. My point was that if these three support Bush, it means they support what he stands for (at least in part) and it doens’t mean they somehow control him…

  6. likwidshoe on May 18th, 2005 at 12:05 pm

Strange, by the way, how quick this thread went from the transportation bill to homophobia.

Don Myers has a way of turning threads into matters of race and sexuality. He’s preoccupied with those two concerns and often sees problems where they don’t exist.

  7. Seth Williams on May 18th, 2005 at 12:05 pm

I’d just add that just because those people agree enough with Bush to vote for him, does not mean that Bush subscribes to all (or even any) of their beliefs. Strange, by the way, how quick this thread went from the transportation bill to homophobia.

  8. likwidshoe on May 18th, 2005 at 11:06 am

What? Are you suggesting that Dubya DOESN’T do whatever Dobson, Wildmon, and Phelps tell him to do?

    Moonbat alert! Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!

  9. Don Myers on May 18th, 2005 at 12:05 pm

    Rob:

You want to try that sentence again? I think you got caught between two thoughts and scrambled ‘em up (I do the same thing when I type too fast).

  10. likwidshoe on May 18th, 2005 at 11:06 am

I would—and so would anyone who read the homophobic GOP platform last year.

Definition of “homophobic” = does not agree with a liberal.

  11. likwidshoe on May 18th, 2005 at 12:05 pm

No, you stupid shit. Definition of homophobic=”denying equal right based on sexual orientation.”

Wow. You’re angry today. I’ll reiterate: “homophobic” = does not agree with a liberal.

Jesus kid—sometimes I wonder how you can move around the house without licking the electrical outlets or buggering the cat…

Hardy har har. Was that your best material Don? Bludgeoning my nickname and giving us these gems? Hahaha…

And for easy reference for anybody who is trying to understand what the moonbat Don Myers is saying when he opens up his ignorant mouth…

Thus we end the liberal to reality dictionary. Glad I could be of service.

Apparently you’re in favor of all three, lik.

  14. Don Myers on May 18th, 2005 at 10:05 am

Dubya never vetos a bill because nothing ever lands on his desk that doesn’t either enrich his campaign contributors or throw red meat to the far-right Taliban wing of the GOP. Why should this bill be any different, Rob?

  15. likwidshoe on May 18th, 2005 at 12:05 pm

My god…what a hateful little boy you are, likwad!

Um. No I’m not. It it quite clear that you are the hateful one here Don. Plus you can’t even get a simple nickname right. I don’t know if you think you’re being cute (you’re not) or if you think that you’re being clever (you’re not), but it is unbecoming.

(and I wouldn’t be able to make fun of your nickname if you were man enough to sign your name to you stupid opinions. But cowardly little assholes like you are a dime a dozen in the GOP, aren’t they?)

Whatever Don. My real name is common enough to be no big deal on the Internet. There are plenty of other people out there with my name. There is only one likwidshoe. You should have just asked instead of assumed. Plus why would I want to Google my name and see a cadre of assholes like you calling me the most vile and hateful things imaginable? I won’t give you that pleasure Don.

You do piss me off, but i need to take a deep breath and remind myself that dumbass punks like you will never accomplish a fucking thing.

And you surmise this because of… Well wait. You’re just assuming again so you can feel better.

You’ll get type your fucked up nonsense from the comfort of your mom’s basement for the rest of your life.

Hahaha. Hilarious considering that you know nothing about me or my life other than the small tidbits I’ve thrown out here. You sure do have a habit of assuming things. Whatever completes your life, I guess.

Don, you’re just a moonbat. You don’t know what I think or believe because you have never actually talked with me and have honest discussions. You just like calling names and coming up with insane conspiracy ramblings.

In hopes that we can get this back on topic:

Bush is anything but a fiscal conservative. He spends money like a drunken sailor but that puts him in pretty good Democrat and Republican company.

The fact is that neither party could give a flying flip about reducing spending, especially in terms of pork. If they did the President (of whichever party) would have had line-item veto power long ago.

The only reason the line-item veto is a dead issue is because neither side cares to get serious about reducing the money they spend so profligately.

My guess is they’ll work out the Transportation bill in conference. The resulting total may end up being slightly more than Bush says he wants, but he’ll sign it anyway. Wht not? After all it’s only our money, not theirs.

    Regards…

To paraphrase a couple of brilliant guys, “Republicans piss me off, but I fucking hate the Don Myers of the world.”

Although, “hate” might be too strong a word. But it’s shorter than “hold in utter contempt too strong for words”.

  23. Seth Yantiss on May 18th, 2005 at 3:05 pm

Okay, this is weird, but I gotta side with Don a little on this one.

I am sick and tired of Congress’ spending and Bush’s signature hitting ever bill that spends money.

    Where did the conservatives go?

I don’t want the Federal Government buying bridges for Alaskan’s (especially if it’s not needed), buying Art from talentless “artists”, etc…

They are more worried about their re-election than they are about doing what we placed them there to do that they abandon their principles and ideals to BUY VOTES.

    F___ they piss me off.

    Bush too!

Now, Contrary to Don, I happen to think that Democrat policies stifel growth, stagnate the individual, and depress creativity, and that Democrats vote pander more than the Republicans.

  24. Aaron on May 18th, 2005 at 11:06 pm

So I checked out the site Rob mentioned in regards to this guy, Phelps. The site is weird, but I have to say that this gif is one of the funniest things I’ve seen…. I’m not quite sure, it’s just…. strange

  25. Aaron on May 18th, 2005 at 11:05 pm

This is one of the reasons a guy like George Allen or the GOP in ‘08 intrigues me…

    &heellip; There is talk now about the war in Iraq being the reason for the Corps of Engineers budget short falls, but its not as simple as that. Our entire federal government has a spending problem. Recently our Congress passed a transportation bill that included $1.5 million for a bus stop in Anchorage, $223 million for a bridge connecting the mainland to an island with 50 inhabitants and funding for other projects just as inane. 410 members of the house and 91 members of the Senate voted for this spending. It would have taken a fraction of the $286.4 billion in spending encompassed in this legislation to fix the levies in New Orleans, yet a fraction of legislators voted against it. &heellip;

  27. Seth Yantiss on May 19th, 2005 at 12:05 am

After all it’s only our money, not theirs.

The problem is that they think the money is THEIRS. Hillary said it best:

“Many of you are well enough off that… the tax cuts may have helped you. We’re saying that for America to get back on track, we’re probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”

Hillary Clinton, at a San Francisco fundraiser for fellow statist Sen. Boxer.

Don Myers had spit out, What? Are you suggesting that Dubya DOESN’T do whatever Dobson, Wildmon, and Phelps tell him to do?

Why would Bush do whatever Fred “God Hates Fags” Phelps tells him to do? Bush is a Republican. Phelps is a Democrat like yourself. Damn…that must suck Don. You’re doing the bidding of Fred Phelps (using your logic right back at ya).

  30. LoadTheMule on May 19th, 2005 at 12:05 am

The problem is that they think the money is THEIRS.

Of course they do. That’s my point. As long as they can milk more of it from our collective private tit they’ll spend it. And they will defend this kind of pork without cracking a smile.

    Regards…

    &heellip; Why, we can’t have Americans running around spending their money on the things they want. That would be anarchy! Chaos! What will liberal Senators from Massachusetts do when they have billions fewer in tax dollars to throw at important projects like $1.5 million dollar bus stops and $232 million dollar bridges to nowhere? &heellip;

  32. robport on May 18th, 2005 at 12:05 pm

Don, believing that issues like gay marriage should be settled by the representatives of the people instead of the judiciary is homophobia, its adherance to the rule of government laid out by our founding fathers.

    Aaron, this is Fred Phelps.

The fact that Don can’t see the difference between someone like Dobson (who is a bit of a twit in my book but not as bad as Don makes him out to be) and Fred Phelps tells you pretty much all you need to know about Don and his mindset.
