Why Should The Bailout Bill Have Funds For ACORN?

Even a day after hearing the news I’m still more than a little shocked at the Democrats’ attempt to fund far-left voter registration fraud outfit (and former employer of one Barack Obama) ACORN without money from their proposed economic bailout plan.
Isn’t this a bit like Republicans trying to stick in some funds for the NRA?
Although I am a Republican, and a card-carrying NRA member, I wouldn’t want to see funds from the bailout plan (or any other government legislation for that matter) go to the NRA or any other right-wing group. It makes no sense, and it’s not an appropriate expenditure of our tax dollars.
How do Democrats get away with this stuff?
I think it’s because they think their voting base is secure. Hard core liberals hate the right, and aren’t ever going to vote Republican. They’ll support Democrats even as Democrats funnel billions of our dollars to far-left advocacy groups, because it doesn’t matter to them.

A. By a lazy MSM that carries their water and fails to report.

ACORN and the left/Dem’s: actually it does matter to them. Since ACORN is a liberal and Dem leaning operation it matters to the Dem’s and Lib’s that it continue doing what it does, and they will make sure it has the money and support from their power seats to keep it going. The MSM agrees with the ACORN agenda so they will not oppose it as long as it does not bite the hand that feeds it.
We need to face it folks–we are being swallowed up in an overwhelming wave of liberalism and people who seem to desire Socialism through big government. We have had 40 years of socialistic indoctrination of our college educated offspring–they have now seeped into every facet of gov’t, business, media, press, labor, and political thinking.

I believe it goes much deeper than this. Those on the Left do not have any sense of right and wrong, no principles beyond the immediacy of expediency, no ethics to speak of, and thus no self-imposed, morality or limitation on what they will or will no do to further their own aggrandizement and lust for power. They are essentially devoid of any functioning moral compass. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be liberals.

As I’ve pointed out previously, if you are startled to find liberals shoveling taxpayer funds at those who support their political objectives, you should take a close look at Planned Parenthood’s revenues, the vast majority of which come from US taxpayers.

DEPOSITS.Not less than 20 percent of any profit realized on the sale of each troubled asset purchased under this Act shall be deposited as provided in paragraph (2).
USE OF DEPOSITS.Of the amount referred to in paragraph (1)
65 percent shall be deposited into the Housing Trust Fund established under section 1338 of the Federal Housing Enterprises Regulatory Reform Act of 1992 (12 U.S.C. 4568); and
35 percent shall be deposited into the Capital Magnet Fund established under section 1339 of that Act (12 U.S.C. 4569).
REMAINDER DEPOSITED IN THE TREASURY.All amounts remaining after payments under paragraph (1) shall be paid into the General Fund of the Treasury for reduction of the public debt.

Profits? We’ll be lucky not to take a bath on the purchase of these toxic assets. If we get 70 cents on the dollar, that would be a success.
That being said, this section proves that the Democrats in Congress have learned nothing from this financial collapse. They still want to game the market to pick winners and losers by funding programs for unqualified and marginally-qualified borrowers to buy houses they may not be able to afford — and that’s the innocent explanation for this clause.
The real purpose of section D is to send more funds to La Raza and ACORN through housing welfare, via the slush fund of the HTF. They want to float their political efforts on behalf of Democrats with public money, which was always the purpose behind the HTF. They did the same thing in April in the first bailout bill, setting aside $100 million in “counseling” that went in large part to ACORN and La Raza, and at least in the former case, providing taxpayer funding for a group facing criminal charges in more than a dozen states for fraud.

This is absolutely shameful. I would disagree with the comparison of ACORN to the NRA.

Acorn is ha hardcore extremist left-wing organization, which has very few parallels on the right. Maybe giving money to the John Birch Society would be comprable.
