Why Does Obama Get A Pass On Appearing With Supporters Of A Totalitarian Dictatorship?

Shouldn’t a person running for the position of leader of the free world be an advocate for… freedom?

Recently Barack Obama created a media sensation when he seemed to attract a crowd of 75,000 people in Portland.  Later, however, it turned out that the crowd in question was mostly already in the Portland park (it was a beautiful day) and there was a free rock concert.  Meaning that Obama went to the crowd more than the crowd went to Obama.

But perhaps more important than the size of Obama’s crowd is who he chose to appear with that day.  The rock band that played at his event was called The Decemberists, named after the Russian Decembrist Revolt.  That in and of itself isn’t that bad (the Decembrist Revolt was more a rejection of Russia’s monarchy than an embrace of socialism, though according to Wikipedia the band’s frontman thinks it was a communist revolt), but what is bad is that the Decemberists routinely play the Soviet Union’s national anthem at the beginning of shows.

The Soviet Union.  The evil empire.  The country that, for decades, had hundreds of nuclear weapons pointed at our country.  The country responsible for the oppression in East Berlin.  The country with leaders like Stalin and Lenin who responsible for genocide and the outright murder of tens of millions of innocent citizens.  And this band, one that Barack Obama either chose himself or at least agreed to appear with, is celebrating the regime.

I, personally, don’t see all that much to distinguish the totalitarianism of the Soviets from the totalitarianism of the Nazis.  Certainly the Soviet body count was higher, and Barack Obama is using people who openly glorify the Soviets to campaign for President.

That’s not just inappropriate and disgusting, it’s also yet another link between Obama and anti-American, pro-socialist radicalism.  Jeremiah Wright.  William Ayers.  Bernadette Dhorn.  The Decemberists.

This is a problem for Obama, and anyone thinking it isn’t going to be a campaign-sinking issue in the general election is fooling themselves.

Wow! Thanks for posting that picture, Bob. I was gonna vote for Bush in November, but after seeing that? NO WAY!

Now, a picture of McCain embracing Ted Kennedy on the other hand…

I cannot help but notice that you never give the GOP nominee any shit for sucking up to a Nazi sympathiser.

As always, IOKIYAR.

Because most people aren’t stupid enough to think that 1) the Decemberists are subversive communist sympathizers instead of another rock band with lyrics critical of world topics (yeah that’s new); 2) that playing the Russian national anthem is anything more than just an artsy gimick; and 3) that a local indie rock band could fill the waterfront in Portland and that the people just hung around and “took in the candidate” for shits and giggles since they were there.

Wow.  So pathetic.

Ok.  Not to say that ALL the people were there for this reason, but as a native Oregonian I can tell you that when the sun finally comes out up here(because it is a rare event) all parks and public places are PACKED!  That part of the story is accurate.  smile

That sure is a photo, bob!

Rob is certainly practicing some mental gymnastics today. It was an Obama rally, the warmup acts were the bands.  Just like happened in Indianapolis with Stevie Wonder, John Mellancamp with Hillary.

Get over it, when was the last time McCain brough 75,000 to a park on a nice day?  He can’t even keep his staff in place nor even conservatives.

So...if McCain appeared with a band glorifying Nazi Germany you’d say it’s just an “artsy gimmick” right Jay?

I mean, who cares that the Soviets murdered tens of millions of people.  It’s art.  It’s not like words and symbolism mean anything.

The members of that band are unrepentant communists.  Obama is endorsing them by appearing with them in public.

That, along with Obama’s other connections to radicalism, speaks volumes about him.  That this is inconvenient for your attempts to deify the man is not my fault.

But toddle along and keep pretending like he’s the messiah.  I’ll be laughing at you in November when he loses.

McCains acceptance of Hagee’s endorsement is quite interesting.  Considering Hagee thinks Hitler was part of Gods plan to place the Jews in Israel.  Sort of puts a damper on your theory Rob.

I mean, it’s not like McCain didn’t know Hagees position before he embarrassingly preached it in recent days.  The difference is that McCain couldn’t pretend it didn’t exist after it had reared its ugly, Nazi sympathizing head.

All those dead Jews....part of Gods plan, according to McCain and Hagee.

Having been introduced to them, as a result of your post.  I think they are rather good.

I feel the same way about McCain and his ties to radical fundamentalists set on invading Iran to bring about the end of the world.

This information sheds a lot of light on his foreign policy positions.

The audio John McCain doesn’t want you to hear, unless you are a Christian fundamentalist who thinks that Hitler was part of Gods plan.

Equivalence, equivalence, equivalence.  That’s what you lefties do to justify the actions of your idols. i.e. your guy did it too.  This illustrates how morally bankrupt you are not being able to or not wanting to differentiate between right and wrong letting each action stand on its one merit.

The Germans at least told The Truth.  The Communists lied about just about everything they did, and didn’t do.  Lies.

I think this is the big difference, in addition to the murder of Jewish civilians.
The liberals covered up ten times more murders of innocent Jewish and other nationality civilians by their friends, the communists.  We just didn’t hear about it, thanks to the New York Times and Walter Duranty.

More like; hypocrisy, hypocrisy, hypocrisy.

You see, the difference is, my dear Einstein, that it is you idiots that are making these situations issues.  We are merely saying, if you want to be this petty and immature, clean your own house first.

That is quite a bit different than simply saying he is justified because your guy did it too.  I don’t expect you to understand, because I don’t think you are capable.

If the right is going to use this things like this as a method of rating a candidate, than we have no choice to point out that they should apply their own set of standards to their candidate.

I happen to think since McCain sought after Hagees endorsement that he knew exactly what he stood for.  Unfortunately for him, the Nazi apologist was just a bit too much.

Clearly McCain was alright with the condemnation of gays and Muslims.  This of course makes it much harder for McCain to be trusted by Muslims.  It sort of puts his whole candidacy into question as dealing with the ME is one of the primary reasons to elect a good candidate.

Why are you so shallow minded Doc?
