Who’s The Contradiction?
From Yahoo News:
Kerry has got to be kidding. His flip-flopping on the gay marriage issue alone is enough to earn him the title of "grand-poobah of contradictions" for this election.
He says he is against gay marriage, but would support gay civil unions. Whatever that means. What exactly is the difference between a marriage license and a civil union license? Wouldn't a marriage be considered a civil union? Seems like the only difference is what we're calling it.
Kerry also likes to use his service as a soldier to garner support from voters. He seems to want us to believe that because he saw combat action in Vietnam he's well-suited to protect the U.S. from its foreign enemies. His voting record, however, tells a different story.
According to the Washington Post, Kerry voted against defense spending for the B1 bomber, the Patriot missile defense system and the F14A, F14D, and F15 fighter jets. Citizen Smash has a laundry list of defense cuts Kerry advocated for during his 1984 Senate campaign. This guys is not pro-military. If his voting record on defense spending doesn't prove it, throwing away his medals should.
When you try and nail John Kerry down to an issue he's always evasive. He's never giving a straight answer. If you ask him why he voted in favor of the war, he tells you he didn't know George W. Bush was going to "fuck it up." He talks about how Bush should have gotten help from the U.N. despite the fact that the U.N. hadn't done squat about Iraq in over two decades. He talks about American unilateralism while Polish, Danish, British and Japanese troops (just to name a few) continue to assist our troops in Iraq.
If he's asked about where he stands on gay marriage he starts talking about that civil union crap again. If you ask him about the economy he's all doom and gloom despite the fact that the economy has been doing quite well, and we're gaining jobs every day.
By the time a person wades through all the double-speak and mealy mouthing you're left with only one sure thing: John Kerry thinks he should be President instead of George W. Bush. "Anyone But Bush," makes a pretty poor campaign slogan.
I, for one, am not going to vote for John Kerry just because he's not George W. Bush.
Democratic front-runner John Kerry fired back at President Bush on Tuesday, depicting him as a "walking contradiction" who has presided over job losses, a deficit increase and frayed international alliances despite promises to the contrary.
