Whoops: Obama Forgets Who Controlled Congress In 2007 And 2008

But who can blame him? Blaming everything bad that’s happening now on President Bush and the past Republican majority is Obama’s only lifeline amidst the stormy seas of debt and deficit he’s now created. That Democrats have controlled Congres since the 2006 mid-terms is an inconvenient truth.

“I want to be very clear,” Mr. Obama said in his weekly address to the nation. “I will not sign on to any health plan that adds to our deficits over the next decade. And by helping improve quality and efficiency, the reforms we make will help bring our deficits under control in the long term.”…
“The same folks who controlled the White House and Congress for the past eight years as we ran up record deficits will argue — believe it or not — that health reform will lead to record deficits,” Mr. Obama said. “That’s simply not true.”

I don’t know what to laugh at harder. Obama forgetting that it was his own party, including himself who was serving in the Senate at the time, who oversaw deficits over the “record deficits” he’s talking about in Congress or that the New York Times didn’t correct Obama on that point in their reporting.

Actually the pressure to give home loans to people that couldn’t afford them started with Jimmy Carter. Bill Clinton used that to pressure banks. They sued banks to give loans to minorities no matter what the consequences were.

Sadly enough George Bush was not blameless in the mess at all.

Minority ownership of homes can be a good thing. But you aren’t doing them any favors by financing homes they can’t afford and destroying our financial system in the process.

If Obama said it, it must be true. Don’t you know we have 57 States?

Good try! Unfortunately, there was a republican President and Congress when the debt climbed from $5 trillion to $11 trillion.

The first democratic budget will be 2010.

I thought he was voting “present”!

That was in the Illinois Senate. In the US Senate he basically showed up 100 days and then was running for President full time.

Wasn’t Obama part of those Controlled congresses in 2007-2008? Sounds like they need a new blame-storm session because this blame Bush thing is getting really old.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

That and Obama probably isn’t smart enough to figure out how things work in the Senate. Remember he’s trying to keep up with intellectual heavyweights like Barbara Boxer.

One year could not have produced the damage to the economy that we have seen.

If you believe that you give very little credit to the strength of the economy built on 12 years of a republican Congress, 6 with a republican President. Not to mention the total of 30 years spent pursuing conservative fiscal policy.

One year could not have produced the damage to the economy that we have seen.

Six months of Obamunism has put the economy in a tailspin. Attacking the private sector, which is where all our wealth is created, is guaranteed to produce economic disaster.

If we had actually had 30 years of fiscal conservatism(living within our means), Obama would have never been elected.

You can’t blame Obama, he was AWOL almost the entire time.

Actually, no matter which party is in the majority, controlling congress is the job of the people that elected them. Part of the problem is that we’ve all become too complacent and trusting. If our elected officials knew we didn’t give them a job for life they would likely be a little more attentive.

You frickin moron, you had two years of Dem’s in control so the fact that GWB was the president is irrelevant. A swing and a miss sock puppet.

Little dino constantly confuses coincidence with causation; it’s called superstition.

these guys are quite smart. if they say it enough, everyone will start to believe it. what it takes is a strong voice pointing out they have been the boss for the last three years. BUSH DOES NOT VOTE ON MONEY SPENT.

  • sayanything-2819

It was because of the Dems that we had the practice of giving mortgages to people who could not afford the houses they were buying especially once the ARM caused their monthly payments to rise as much as 50% or more. When did that happen? Why after the Dems took over and began pushing through their lib agenda. President Bush, though a good man, is not a true conservative and went along with the Dems too often for my taste. But, the fact remains that with troops in the field, the Dems played politics with their lives and Pres. Bush had to whore himself to them to get the funds they needed.

This economy is all due to the Dems and those Republicans who were too weak kneed to stand up to them after the media so undermined everything conservative and manipulated the American people that real conservatives in Congress were afraid of their own shadows. President Bush’s poll numbers were in the toilet and they were afraid of the fallout of any loyalty to him.

Dino, you can repeat all your hostile nonsense over and over but the American people are starting to see the cracks in the lib facade.

Comrade Obama also neglected the fact that the record for worst deficit belongs to him. If the GOP ever gets someone who can think on his feet to respond to his comments (hint; kill the teleprompters for new candidaters), Obama will be in serious trouble.

We will see if he tried to circumvent the US Constitution on this arena. Maybe he can use his extra 7 states to change the votes. Ignorant.

Obama forgetting that it was his own party, including himself who was serving in the Senate at the time,

An understandable mistake on his part, since he spent the majority of his time on the senate running for president, not in congress.

Hey damnit, Obama’s got his facts straight!

Except for the facts and the straight parts.

Yea! Get off his case! Meanie head. Injecting facts and logic into feel goodness…
