Whoops: Cheney Actually Did Inform Top Congressmen About CIA Program

In the last few days, the former Vice-President has come under fire amidst anonymous claims that he directed the CIA not to inform Congress of a covert counterterrorism program set in motion by the post-9/11 Bush administration.
However, today the former director of the CIA, Michael Hayden spoke out with no condition of anonymity, stating that he personally briefed top members of congress on the program, despite anonymous grumblings to the contrary.
As I stated earlier, I like Cheney, but I would have no problems denouncing his actions if it’s found that he’s abused executive privileges. He was at the end of the day nothing but a man, and a man in an office with limitations.
However, the facts stand clear. Dick Cheney didn’t prevent the CIA from debreifing top members of Congress, against assertion to the contrary.
At least for the time being, pending some further revaluation, it’s safe to say that this entire would-be scandal is nothing more than partisan attempt to pass the buck on the public’s ire at a failing domestic policy.
Remember America, if you can’t do it right, convince your constituents that your predecessor did it wrong.

If democrats were smart they would have put the nail in the coffin of the republicans

Poor Dino! The only thing he’s tried to nail is a coffin! No wonder he’s cranky!

BWuhahahahaha. I love it when these shit-heel smear merchants get caught. Wartching the way they slink away is priceless.

But what about Cheney’s super-secret, double probation Death Squads?!?!?
Heyden must be in fear of his very soul, lest Darth Cheney loose his myrmidons upon him. Yeah, that’s thge ticket.

The TEA parties, which the MSM are so assiduously avoiding in the news coverage, are a clear indication that the word is indeed getting out and that the grass roots are not amused. The TEA parties in four months have had more people at them then all the anti-war protests in the last 7+ years combined.

This last election was not the low tide of the Republican Party, it was the watery retreat which precedes the Tsunami.

Graft was the wrong word (though it wouldn’t surprise me). Let’s try cronyism instead.

Well yeah, he’s trying to get his ass out of the sling. What’s a few more lies?

Forgive me if I find the ex-director of the CIA more credible than a couple would-be whistleblowers hiding behind press anonymity.

Oh, and Eddie, here’s a timeline of the economic mess you think you can blame on Obama. This all happened before he was nominated:

You would make a valid point, DINO… except that I never once mentioned the economic meltdown.

I’m talking about adding insult to injury in our national debt. I’m talking about being a complete hypocrite on government transparency. I’m talking about graft and wasteful spending the likes of which America hasn’t seen in 70 years, and most of all, I’m talking about a center-right nation who’s slowly coming to the realization that the majority of President Obama’s talk on bipartisanship and unilateral governance means absolutely dick.

You know what they say DINO, assuming makes an ass out of you and me.

It’s not Cheney’s fault that the briefer used big words Nancy Pants couldn’t understand.

Lies from the lying libs? How cavilear!

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

    What’s a few more lies?

And for your “proof” that the CIA lied, you ramble on about the economy???
    (Nicely cut and pasted, though!)

Dino: Your ADD is a lot more severe than we’d previously imagined! You need professional help…stat!

If you have any evidence that Hayden lied, bring it on! Your simply ass-erting it does not make it so. Your trying to change the subject mid comment does nothing for your credibility here, either, Dino!

You say potato, I say yummy butter, cheese and Tabasco Sauce covered diner item. Its all the same, babe!

  • carrick

2Hotel9, you still pay attention to that dumbass Dino for anything?

That retarded idiot deserves nothing but to be ignored.

In the mean time, we are left with the liberals as complete and absolute liars once again.

    From the link:

Hayden, who in 2001 designed and carried out the secret program, told AP that he was distressed by suggestions that Congress was not fully informed. He said that he personally briefed top lawmakers on the entire surveillance operation and that he believed that they supported it.

Well yeah, he’s trying to get his ass out of the sling. What’s a few more lies?

Congress was fully informed, Nanny Pelosi wanted to know if the interrogation techniques would be harsh enough.

  • 2Hotel9

Thanks, dinothefakehomo, for detailing the Democrat Party’s full responsibility for the economic melt down. Good job, buddy!

This is the downside of Congressional Immunity.

Flat out lies told from the floor of the House or Senate are not actionable.

In just under seven months the present administration and congress have engaged in the biggest abandonment of ethical principles in the nation’s history and despite the mainstream media’s near blackout on what is going on the blogging world has covered it well and made the news known and still no one seems to care. There’s no anger in the heartland. Unless and until there is this sort of thing will continue.

Drama Queen. Go get a clean tampon.

This last election was not the low tide of the Republican Party, it was the watery retreat which precedes the Tsunami.

No, I’d say it was low tide. The republicans stink like it is. Besides, you cretins had total control and that’s what took us here.

Do this: Go back and see how republican fared in the successive elections after the last Great Depression they caused. By 1938 they had dropped to NINETEEN PERCENT of Congress. The Depression, coming at the end of 30 years of republican dominance (sound familiar?) happened in 1932. That’s about 2 elections where they remained decimated. The republican party that did come back was a much more liberal one.

If democrats were smart they would have put the nail in the coffin of the republicans by demonizing them for this latest meltdown. Just announce an open season on them. There’s still time.

Congressional members alleging illegalities on the part of the previous administration should be damn careful to not be lying and fabricating the charges but evidently this congress feels free to act dishonorably at every turn. Again, until the people give a damn it won’t matter.
