Who Is Ellie Light?

Obama czar Cass Sunstein recently wrote a paper suggesting that:

…the Government make secret payments to so-called “independent” credible voices to bolster the Government’s messaging (on the ground that those who don’t believe government sources will be more inclined to listen to those who appear independent while secretly acting on behalf of the Government).

Now comes news that one “Ellie Light” has published a pro-Obama letter in 47 newspapers in 23 different states. The Cleveland Plain Dealer caught on to the apparent astroturfing, but Patterico has done a good deal more legwork in showing just how far this astroturfing has gone.

Editors all over the country found Light’s message strangely compelling. It was reprinted at The Politico; the Philadelphia Daily News; the San Francisco Examiner; the Washington Times; and a USA Today blog. In addition, the letter has appeared at literally dozens of small-town papers across the country, with names like the Los Banos Enterprise, the North Adams Transcript, and the Danbury News-Times.
Ms. Light always claims to be a local in these letters. Her real estate holdings are apparently prodigious, as she has claimed residences in Philadelphia, PA; Daly City, California; Mansfield, Ohio; Waynesboro, Virginia; Algoma, Wisconsin; Bangor, Maine; and dozens of other places. Who said Obama supporters were all downtrodden?

It certainly seems as though the public is owed an explanation as to who this “Ellie Light” is. A hardworking, independent citizen activist who has been extremely successful in getting her words printed around the nation? Or a government operative of the sort Sunstein suggested should exist to promote the government’s agenda at the expense of the taxpayers?

Progressives they are not. Like the dems using the word democrat to be confused with democracy. No wonder they keep many folks uneducated and stuck to the teat of the US. Simple play on words for more of their feel good policies.

Progressives have given us the Fed, the IRS and many more daily roadblocks to prosperity. Ever wonder why..???

Makes me wonder if Ellie is a group of individual or fairly amateurish bloggers that are working in tandem to ‘do what they think is right’ which interestingly, is the rationale behind healthcare upheaval, cap and tax, and most of the other long standing success-proof liberal cornerstones of the last half century. The post was actually well written and clearly based on talking points, as opposed to an impromptu outburst (like this ramble may appear to be). I would also say that if it was posted at 6am, its probably a NY or Washington activist type.

Does anyone here see any difference in the attitude, motivation, or moral ambivalence between this and filling out fraudulent voter registration forms in over a dozen states like ACORN did?

I ask because I think the pattern of the radical… excuse me… “progressive” Left’s dishonest behavior, including that of Obama and his supporters seems to become more and more apparent with each passing week.

Curious too, that the people who perpetrate this sort of fraud on the public are the ones who gleefully accused Karl Rove of carrying out the same sort of dirty tricks that they are now engaged in.

  • I don’t like today’s GOP

If she’s a corporation, all is good.

Ellie Light is also a play on words “Elite” as in better than us.

  • sayanything-5371

Who ever you are you are an illiterate idiot, which tells why you are an Obamabot. Your wandering diatribe isn’t even broken up into distinct paragraphs of the subjects you wish to discuss. It looks like stereotypical liberal gibberish going nowhere.

  • sayanything-15427

Classic Projection, if the righties are winning they MUST be cheating too.

  • sayanything-2

Yep, spambots, welfare whores paid by the Obama Admin to pretend they are actually people.

  • Illinois (NOT CHICAGO!)

Nice to know this story has been spiked by the major media propagandists. Nothing comes up on any of the leftist rags web sites about her.

Most newspapers (at least in the past) would verify the name, address, and phone number of the person who sent in a letter to the editor, and they would not want to print a letter if it had appeared in another paper. The most interesting part of this story is that newspapers have abandoned this practice. For example, the Los Banos Enterprise could have checked to see if someone named Ellie Light lived in Gustine, but it did not. I attribute this to the fact that all newspapers are going broke.

  • sayanything-2

I’m sure the FBI will get to the bottom of this with one question, and when this person lies to that question their a$$ goes to jail. Problem solved.

This is fraud, if it was a Republican IDLT would be screeching for the entire RNC to be thrown in prison for life.

  • sayanything-2

Larry? Economics has nothing to do with not verifying authenticity of letters to the editor. Many people don’t want their name and address attached to such, seeing as the politically motivated use such information to destroy people’s lives. On the obverse of that, the ACLU and other groups have harassed newspapers for trying to verify letter writers.

In the end this is nothing really new. Letter writing campaigns have been around as long as the press has been on the North American continent, this is just updated for the internet and using spambots.

My name is Ellie Light, and I am an individual amazed at the lack of support offered for President Obama, especially by people of his own party, by people who worked very hard to elect him. By design, this email will land in the in-boxes of Obama’s opponents, and I’ve got to hand you one thing. You guys know a thing or two about loyalty. When President Bush became unpopular for his decisions, you guys stood by him. When Trent Lott and Delay told the pro-lifers and school-prayer folks to put a cork in it, because “now is not the time,” you did as you were told. And no sarcasm intended, because it was good for the GOP to show some loyalty. We Dems appear to have zero. Take the Guantanamo decision. Obama promised he’d close it. What about the prisoners? Do we ship ‘em back to their country of origin? Do we force them on a particular US state? Anyone with a brain would realize that there are many steps between stating the intention of closing it, and sending the prisoners on thier way. But count on us Dems to start calling “Liar, Liar.” Oh, and of course, we Democrats are the same people who complain about the growing power of the Executive Branch, pointing out that ever since Nixon, the President’s war-making power, and over-reaching Executive privilege have increased. But yet, we Democrats complain the loudest that the President lacks what it takes do the things he promised, at least not fast enough. You know. Do them right now. Before my coffee gets cold and I have to change the TV station. Speaking of TV, that “put the cameras in the health care debate” attack was another self-defeating move. As if it were the President’s decision alone to muscle past Congress and force the cameras into their faces. The President can promise to do something, but what with the world collapsing around us and all, it might take a little time to work through each promise. But I think it makes us Democrats feel independent and enlightened to deliver up stinging critiques of Obama’s every action. It shows the world that we are not blind followers. As if it were a point of embarrassment to stand by a President in a tough moment. Sheesh. Trash Obama so you can burnish your credentials as a Peace Activist. Trash Obama so you can sound like a Genuine Liberal. What Priorities. Heaven forbid that a person set aside their timetable and allow a new President to get his bearings. So I’m not surprised with you guys, the folks who stay up late finding something sinister in everything Obama says and does. You’re just carrying out your beliefs. It’s like church. I’m mostly just shocked with my own kind, because, unless we Democrats learn a bit about loyalty, about a unified front, you Tea Partiers will all enjoy front row seats to kiss the feet of Queen Sarah on the White House lawn in January 2013.

Read DEZINFORMATSIA: SOVIET ACTIVE MEASURES by Godson and Schulz.

They describe this very method, as one long used by the Soviets to spread fake and inflammatory stories throughout the world (ex. AIDS was made up by the CIA to kill off the Third World, the US is importing Third World babies for a source of organs for American children, etc… )

I tell you, these people are Communists.

If it quacks like a goose, looks like a goose and steps like a goose….

Ellie Light is like Silence Dogood. Except Dogood was for liberty and freedom while Ellie is for slavery in government. The complete opposite of Benjamin Franklin. Lets start taking guesses on who the person really is. I am thinking Bill Ayers.

    lets just wait and see

  • sayanything-316

I think it’s really peachy for Ellie to grace us with an e-mail of our very own. After all, she must be a very busy girl, living in so many places and writing Letters to the Editor as a local resident in all those different places and owning property in all those different places — all at the same time.

Come to think of it, that must have made voting a very busy day indeed.

We should hold her up as the very model of the modern Acorn voter.

The thing that struck me when I read this is how this sort of thing was so easily caught out in the blog age. I have no doubt this has happened numerous times in the past, but it would have been extrememly difficult to catch even ten or twelve years ago.

You’d think whoever is behind it, whether ambitious private citizen, administration flack, or Left-leaning group effort, would have been smart enough to use different names and slightly altered text.

  • sayanything-7702

here is one more I read that I found interesting as to the possible identity:

I love a riddle. I immediately thought Ellie = Eleanor. Eleanor Roosevelt??

Maybe a reference to FDR’s New Deal … bringing light to America?

Right, in this day and age highlighting a paragraph of text and Googling it takes a matter of seconds.

I found this quite interesting post that i found on the internet here goes:
I’ve posted some of my thoughts on the identity of Ellie Light on another board this morning, but I’ll share my thoughts here as well.

I believe Ellie Light is a journalist by the name of Samantha Power. The meaning of the name ellie is light. An Ellie is also a national magazine award which Ms. Power won in 2005 for a piece in New Yorker magazine, entitled Dying in Darfur.

She worked for Senator Barack Obama and then on his presidential campaign before she was forced to resign for referring to Hillary Clinton as a monster.

While there, she met then later married Cass Sunstein who works in the Obama administration as Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs .

Wwhile at Harvard Law School, Sunstein co-wrote a truly pernicious paper proposing that the U.S. Government employ teams of covert agents and pseudo-”independent” advocates to “cognitively infiltrate” online groups and websites.

In addition to this , the latin word, Lucifer, means bearer of light. Saul Alinsky, in Rules for Radicals, dedication is to Lucifer.

  • sayanything-6955

It is odd, with so many bloggers and newsers out there today, whoever wrote this should have known it would be caught.

  • sayanything-6955

    Ellie spammed by Ellie?

  • sayanything-316

Not too sure on the taste, but I can tell you this….
