White House Communications Chief And Noted Maoist Anita Dunn To Step Down

But she’ll remain as an “adviser” to the President.  Which means that she’ll pretty much be doing what she was doing before, and this shuffling is just a bit of political theater aimed at taking out of the public limelight where her attacks on Fox News and her comments about Chairman Mao have been what Obama is undoubtedly describing as a “distraction.”

WASHINGTON – The White House’s top communications aide is stepping down at the end of the month and will be replaced by her deputy.

White House officials say Anita Dunn will leave her West Wing office but remain an adviser to President Barack Obama. Dan Pfeiffer will become communications director for the White House.

The officials described the move on the condition of anonymity because the announcement had not been made.

This is really a commentary on the utter failure of Dunn’s Fox News strategy.  Remember that it was Dunn’s comments citing Fox News as a “wing of the Republican party” that kicked off that controversy a month ago.  Since then the Obama administration has also tried to freeze Fox News out of the White House, even ordering other journalists not to cooperate with Fox, and it has failed miserably.  Fox’s ratings are higher than ever, and the Obama administration has come under fire (and rightfully so) for being a bunch of thugs.

So Dunn gets shuffled behind the scenes and someone else comes to the front.
