White House Petition Calls For “Gun Free Zones” Around President And Vice President

142835951_620x350

Hey, if it’s good enough for our schools and college campuses, it should be good enough for the top officials in the executive branch, no?

Gun Free Zones are supposed to protect our children, and some politicians wish to strip us of our right to keep and bear arms. Those same politicians and their families are currently under the protection of armed Secret Service agents. If Gun Free Zones are sufficient protection for our children, then Gun Free Zones should be good enough for politicians.

Of course, this is a terrible idea, because the President and Vice President sadly become targets for all manner of crazies and zealots. We want our political leaders to be safe, which is why we surround them with armed guards and security experts.

But do you know whose is a target? All of the children, and disarmed adults, who spend a significant amount of their time in gun free zones. Again and again schools, campuses, and other “gun free zones” are the targets of shooters who want to shoot as long as possible, and rack up as big a body count as possible, before someone starts shooting back.

Gun free zones wouldn’t make the President safer, and they make our children and students less safe.

And you know who else understands this? President Obama, who just gave himself and every other former President the guarantee of a lifetime of Secret Service protection.

I will support any new gun control law that is so effective that it includes removal of metal detectors from airports and Federal Court Houses.

I disagree with you that the president has a priority on armed protection. After all attacks on the president are quite rare where it’s statistically true that many people are being assaulted and need armed protection this hour.

Our lives and safety are just as important as his. Certainly we can’t afford to provide the level of protection to each person so that’s why we need the ability to protect ourselves.

    • WOOF

“Attacks on the president are quite rare” Are you living in Canada?

Kennedy J & R , Reagan shot, Bush attacked by flying shoe.

      • http://Sayanythingblog.com The Whistler

As I said quite rare. Thousands of people are being assaulted today. You’ve had to mention things that happened almost fifty years ago.

dont tell me we need a Shoe Free Zone now????

      • Spartacus

Reagan didn’t ask for gun free zones around him when he traveled and Bush didn’t demand no shoe zones around him either. The only take away I’m getting from your argument is something that has been well known for decades, liberals are huge cowards.

Kennedy would argue we don’t need “gun free” zones, we need “bullet free” zones.

    • http://flamemeister.com flamemeister

Attacks on the President are rare because of virtually impenetrable security, so what fool is going to throw his life away even attempting an attack? Just check on the construction and accessories of the Presidential limo. Hell, you can throw your life away just publicly suggesting such a thing. It makes no sense to talk about the “rarity” of attacks on the President. If he didn’t have 4 times the hyper-paranoid protection of any previous president, if his travel venues weren’t gone over with a fine-toothed comb, if the other hundred or so safeguards involving his security were gone—yes, the attacks would still be rare: just one, ever, and that in the following day or two.

      • Spartacus

This is probably why he’s paranoid about guns. .50 caliber rifles have been out there for quite a while and history has proven that you can knock a ME-109 out of the air from about a half a mile away with that projectile. Prezhizzles limo might be armored but it’s not bullet proof and neither is he, that’s what he’s afraid of.

        • borborygmi

          Should he be afraid then?

      • http://Sayanythingblog.com The Whistler

Perhaps that’s true, but it’s undoubtedly true that attacks on the citizenry happen thousands of times a day. I don’t think the president would be attacked that often.

    • Snarkie

Way to parlay it into some gun rights thing.

Obsess about a narrow set of issues much?

Looks like the MSM, the drive-by media, or whatever you whiny victims are calling it this week… has you by the nuts.

While Barry is pushing to take Americans gun rights away,

          • http://flamemeister.com flamemeister

Yes, back in the 50s & 60s—when the events of the 30s and 40s were still relatively fresh in people’s minds—bore-bore and some of the other libs on this blog would have been called the “It can’t happen here” people by Democrats and Republicans alike. Many Americans who had been little affected by WWs I & II had the smug notion that political events of the sort that happened in Europe would never happen in the United States. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It_Can't_Happen_Here and supplement this with the movie “Gabriel Over the White House”—FDR’s favorite movie. Stunning. What is happening in this country re the emergence of totalitarianism has happened in almost precisely the same way all over the world many times and shows such a clear and stereotypical pattern that you have to be entirely ignorant of modern world history not to see it. What has me buffaloed is that putative historians such as Bill O’Reilly can’t even see it. Perhaps he has changed his mind by now. On the other hand he’s such a celebrity suck-up …

7.62 How do you know you aren’t the one indoctrinated. Could you tell me the last time gun sales went down after a mass shooting. NRA the gurus of marketing? I wonder if we can trace if any of the weapons used belonged to NRA members or supporters. Coincident , I think not. The NRA and pro gun lobby most likely behind these mass shootings. Have one every couple of month and quarterlies look really good for the guns and ammo industry.

          • $8194357

You have your villian just like Alinsky said to do..
            The evil NRA…
Funny tho…Ya are blind to the leftist “ideologies” causeing the real
damages….Put a face on it and name it evil old Saul said all the while pushing “evil ideologies”..

      • Luther

Cracked in the box eh? History proves otherwise. If you think power-mongers are beyond creating atrocities to get/keep power you are sadly naive. History is rife with maniac politicians who “created a good crisis” with the sole purpose of creating mass fear which they used to disarm the populace. This is well documented. It was those same maniacs who unleashed hell, murdering millions… it wasn’t the NRA, NRA equivalent or even gun manufacturer’s…

        • $8194357

          Yup…
          What you said..

  • Matthew Hawkins

is this supposed to mean that the secret service and police can’t carry guns around the President?

    • Spartacus

Agreed. Fire the Secret Service. Call it the first families contribution to reducing the federal deficit.

  • Spartacus

Nobody should comply. Then, maybe, the rest of us won’t be on the hook for the first families frequent and exuberant vacation expenses.

  • http://flamemeister.com flamemeister

I think they should give it a shot … see how it works out.

  • dakotacyr

Oh and don’t forget most gun shows don’t allow visitors to carry loaded weapons due to safety considerations. Now that is rich!

    • Spartacus

“most”? You had to qualify your statement, that’s the rich part.

  • mickey_moussaoui

I’d like obama to hang a “gun free zone” sign around his neck because it works so well everywhere else.

  • JustRuss

Our children deserve the same level of protection as the President, secret service for every school in the country! If I cannot carry my own weapon I demand round-the-clock personal security from my government!
