White House Petition Calls For “Gun Free Zones” Around President And Vice President

Hey, if it’s good enough for our schools and college campuses, it should be good enough for the top officials in the executive branch, no?

Gun Free Zones are supposed to protect our children, and some politicians wish to strip us of our right to keep and bear arms. Those same politicians and their families are currently under the protection of armed Secret Service agents. If Gun Free Zones are sufficient protection for our children, then Gun Free Zones should be good enough for politicians.

Of course, this is a terrible idea, because the President and Vice President sadly become targets for all manner of crazies and zealots. We want our political leaders to be safe, which is why we surround them with armed guards and security experts.

But do you know whose is a target? All of the children, and disarmed adults, who spend a significant amount of their time in gun free zones. Again and again schools, campuses, and other “gun free zones” are the targets of shooters who want to shoot as long as possible, and rack up as big a body count as possible, before someone starts shooting back.

Gun free zones wouldn’t make the President safer, and they make our children and students less safe.

And you know who else understands this? President Obama, who just gave himself and every other former President the guarantee of a lifetime of Secret Service protection.
