What’s With All The Surprise Public Appearances, Earl Pomeroy?
Today I received word that Rep. Earl Pomeroy will be appearing at Blue Cross, Blue Shield in Fargo at 10:00am.
Little to no announcement was made of this appearance beforehand. Employees didn’t even learn about it until this morning.
Back during the August recess, when North Dakotans and Americans in general were showing up at town hall meetings to question their representatives and protest the health care bill, Earl Pomeroy didn’t even bother to hold a single face-to-face town hall meeting. Since casting his vote for health care (against the wishes of a majority North Dakotans and their health care providers), Pomeroy hasn’t been any more forthcoming with his constituents.
He’s attacked critics from behind the well-funded flaks of special interest groups like the AARP. When he’s appeared in public its been at times and locations only announced a short time before the appearance. He pulled this stunt over a week ago, and he’s pulling it again today.
You’ve got to ask yourself: What is Earl Pomeroy so afraid of? If he voted in the best interest of his constituents then he should be back here in North Dakota taking a victory lap under showers of adulation, gratitude and praise. That, in reality, he’s hiding behind the AARP (and the SEIU, which I’m told is funding his attack ads on his critics) and keeping his distance from the public should perhaps tell us something about the true feelings of North Dakotans about his actions.
