What Is Earl Pomeroy Hiding In Ethics Investigation?
By now you’ve all heard the news that the Office of Congressional Ethics has dispelled the ethical cloud that has been hanging over Earl Pomeroy’s head for a couple of months. The OCE concluded that there was no reason to go forward with further investigation.
But there’s something strange going on. Pomeroy apparently provided materials to the OCE to help prove his innocence. What was in those materials? Pomeroy isn’t talking:
In North Dakota, Pomeroy told reporters he felt vindicated.
“There was nothing here, so it feels like they must have read the materials I sent them,” he said. “They’ve taken action, and the matter is done.”
He added, “There was never more here. I voted to represent North Dakota’s interests against the big banks on Wall Street.”
Pomeroy wouldn’t go into details about what information he provided ethics investigators.
“I’m not going to get into what they asked for. We gave them all the information they needed,” he told the Bismarck Tribune.
What’s that all about?
If this was all much ado about nothing, I’m sure Rep. Pomeroy would be happy to share these materials with the public, no?
