We Shouldn’t Give Them The Time Of Day

You know something that has really been bugging me lately? Folks who link to 9/11 conspiracy theory sites with an attitude that’s akin to: “Here, go check this out! It’s sort of fun!”
To me that’s about as “fun” or “cool” as linking to websites who deny the existence of the holocaust and saying “Here, this sure is funny!”
In this time of world war against the threat of Islamic extremism videos and articles by people who can’t even bring themselves to believe that we were, in fact, attacked by Muslim radicals just isn’t that funny or cool.
Especially not as we come up on the anniversary of 9/11. Seriously. Talk about poor taste.

I don’t like the conspiracy theories either. Then again, there are actually people who believe the world is square and if you don’t get it, you’re dumb.

On the subject of death, two days I hate the most are:

    -Father’s Day
    -September 11th

The fact that both of these are highly publicized and tragic to me does not help me the least bit.

Father’s Day: My dad died a week before Father’s day, and yet, for the longest time ever, I hear ads for “Get your dad something special!” “Do something with your dad this weekend!” “Tell your dad you love him with x consumer item!”

September 11th: Let’s replay a video of the people that died on this day and remember them once again. Let’s talk about it over and over and over again. Let’s tell student student that she has no right to say that her dad was a hero, because these people sacrificed themselves more than anyone else could. We’re going to mourn a bunch of strangers, while the people who were close to us will be forgotten. Didn’t we do this the last five years? Well, I suppose you can never mourn these people too much, even though they’ve been dead longer than your own relatives.

I really just need to shut off all media during those 2 times of the year. Christmas and Holidays are tough, but at least you get food, friends, and support. Yum.

Out of respect, why can’t people just drop the September 11th films and allow the families to mourn on their own? As a sufferer of PTSD, I would take bets that some of these families really need a break from seeing film of their loved ones dying/killing themselves over and over again. Watching it like that is not going to fix it. I’d prefer to allow them to bury their dead and be treated like normal people so they can get on with their lives.

Comments don’t seem to be working on his site, so I’ll post my comment here. He writes:

The other guy’s argument, essentially, was that reading the bizarre ramblings of conspiracy-theory, tinfoil-hat-wearing crackpots doesn’t mean you have to believe those ramblings. And, perhaps more importantly… “What if they’re not crazy?” It’s an interesting argument.

So, we need to read the conspiracy nut webpages because…. they might be telling the truth! What an idiot. Giving the time of day to conspiracy nuts who promote conspiracies that are even remotely probable or possible, sure. But 9/11 conspiracies are so absurd as to make anyone who takes them seriously enough to read ANYTHING they write anymore simply an idiot.
