We Have to Pass the Bill So You Can Know What’s In It

CNS is reporting that members in the Democrat controlled Senate received both the 154 page “Fiscal Cliff compromise” bill and the CBO scoring 3 minutes before they were to vote on the bill. Of course we’ve seen this tactic used ever since Obama became president, haven’t we?

The U.S. Senate voted 89-8 to approve legislation to avoid the fiscal cliff despite having only 3 minutes to read the 154-page bill and budget score.

Multiple Senate sources have confirmed to CNSNews.com that senators received the bill at approximately 1:36 AM on Jan. 1, 2013 – a mere three minutes before they voted to approve it at 1:39 AM.

The bill is 154-pages and includes several provisions that are unrelated to the fiscal cliff, including repealing a section of ObamaCare, extending the wind-energy tax credit, and a rum tax subsidy deal for Puerto Rican rum makers.

The bill avoids the fiscal cliff by making permanent the Bush tax cuts for individuals making less than $400,000 per year and couples making less than $450,000 and by putting off the automatic spending cuts (sequestration) from last year’s debt ceiling deal until March.

The godawful arrogance of politicians who pull this stuff, and Reid and Obama and the Democrats in particular, is simply shameful… thoogh, of course, none of them has the faintest idea what shame is.

I propose a solution to this situation that Mr Hoeven may be able to help with if he has the spine to do so. Mr. Hoeven, if it would please you, respectfully ask the other members of the senate to refuse to vote on anything until Mr Reid brings a budget up for a vote. The Senate is by law to pass a budget every year. I may be wrong but I believe that this is spelled out in The Constitution as one of your most important duties. I realize that you are only one man of one hundred but you are only one of two from our state. I don’t see our newly elected senator getting much done in this regard so it is up to you Sir. Please lead in this regard as so that we can not have to listen to the media howl for the next two months about the impending budget crisis. If you can’t vote on an appropriate budget then please either vote against this silliness or at the very least follow the lead of Mr. Obama and just vote present.

Since Obama became Comrade-Chairman, this has been the most dysfunctional, dishonest Congress ever – worse though are the American people that let them get away with it – they should clean house.

One thing someone needs to look into is what it would take to allow us to recall Senators. With this foolishness and looming gun control we need to be able to let them know that they are accountable to us. I’m not just talking about Liedi, I’m not sure we can afford another 4 years of Hoeven either.

Not going to happen. We went through this a couple of years ago and Wayne said no. Besides we had a chance a couple months ago to elect at least a chance to help out in the senate and we failed. To many socialists in the only state that has its own bank and flour mill. What more can we expect?

Down the same sewage drain as cutting the deficit in half in his first term, getting the economy moving again, the “most open administration in history,” and post-partisanship. Rules??? What rules? We don’t need no stinkin’ rules! We’re Democrats and we won.
