Ward Connerly on Colorado Amendment 46

The Democrat’s convention is not the only thing going on in Colorado this year! Here’s a Rocky Mountain News editorial interview with Ward Connerly on the Amendment to ban “preferential treatment”.


Here’s the complete text of the measure:

“Shall there be an amendment to the Colorado Constitution concerning a prohibition against discrimination by the state, and in connection therewith, prohibiting the state from discriminating against or granting preferential treatment to any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, and in public contracting.”

Pretty radical! Not.

    Do not state the obvious. Step over the mess on the carpet, ignore the fire blazing in the corner of the room. That is the leftist educational result. Its been chugging along towards this for 50 years. It just had to spread far enough, and now people have begun to catch on.

    Finally! If only we could break out of this racism. The other day, yet another person was placed in a position based only on the color of their skin. Another applicant was clearly more qualified with education and experience, but their complexion was not dark enough.
    This is disgusting and illegal.

    …if this means “all” races, including European, I applaude it.
    The situation since 1964 has begun to reverse itself. If the Minority you belong to would be “White”, you may have trouble getting “State” consideration along side of everyone else.

    In Georgia, at a school board workshop, the superintendent of the County school system advised the participants that African-American students made up less than one-third of the population at the County Schools last school year, but account for nearly half of those facing disciplinary panels for bad behavior.

    Of 1,910 discipline hearings held in 2007-08 to dole out long-term suspensions or expulsions to students, 931 of those were held for black students.

    About 18 percent or 345 discipline panels were held for white students.

    Parents were offended by those comments and have demanded that the Nation’s longest serving school superintendent be dismissed.

    The parents are concerned that the superintendent made statements that could be perceived as racist.

    Under no circumstances should these black students [or their parents] be held accountable for their actions
