Want To Opt Out Of North Dakota’s 4.7 Million Acre Land Grab? I Have A Form For You To Download

Courtesy of the North Dakota Farm Bureau:

According to Senator Dorgan’s office, the Senate Appropriations Committee passed Interior Appropriations bill (HR 2996), including the Heritage Area language (Sec. 115) with the “written notice” change included.

Click here to view the opt-out language included in the bill.

Download Farm Bureau’s opt-out notification

Our opt-out notification is a Word document, which you can send to President of the Northern Plains Heritage Area, Sara Vogel. In addition, the document has addresses for National Heritage Partnerhips Coordinator Sue Pridemore, Senator Byron Dorgan and Governor John Hoeven, so you can share your notification with them as well.

Remember, per my post yesterday, that the law passed by Congress isn’t just for a 500,000 acre designation of land surrounding the Missouri River but rather a designation of all privately-owned land in five counties: Mercer, Oliver, McLean, Burleigh and Morton.  If you own land in any of those counties (and that includes all of you in the Bismarck/Mandan area) I’d recommend opting-out immediately.

That’s the best way to gut this nonsense land grab.  We shouldn’t have to opt out of this boondoggle.  If Byron Dorgan and Tracy Potter and the Northern Plains Heritage Foundation want to do things with land in these areas they should ask land owners to opt in.  But, unfortunately, Potter and Dorgan ram-rodded this land grab through Congress without bothering to ask what the land owners think of it.

So now we need to gut it by having everyone in the designated area opt out.

By the way, tune in to my radio show on Saturday as Wes Klein - Mercer County land owner and District 7 Director for the North Dakota Farm Bureau - will be on to talk about some of the latest developments with this land grab.  And read all my previous posts about the NHA issue here.
