Wal-Mart Live Blogging: Fashion Choices

Wal-Mart CEO Lee Scott is talking right now. He was covering some of Wal-Mart’s advancements on the fashion scene. During his speech he got in a light jab at New York Times reporter Michael Barbaro (the guy responsible for the Wal-Mart/bloggers story).
Mr. Scott was talking Wal-Mart’s new fashion line and alluded to the fact that “even some reporters here from New York are wearing Wal-Mart ties.”
Unless I’m mistaken, Mr. Barbaro appears to be wearing a George brand tie, which goes for something like $11.00 at Wal-Mart. Proving that while Mr. Barbaro’s disdain for Wal-Mart as a company is obvious in his reporting, he isn’t above purchasing quality products at low prices from them.

Wal-Mart’s advancements on the fashion scene.

    LOL

My husband and I were discussing Wal-Mart running out of hillbillies and trying to win over the more ‘yuppie’ demographic.  Neither of us could picture them walking through the discarded SuperSize slushie cups and trucks in the parking lot to shop for designer clothing.

But, if anyone can pull it off, Wal-Mart can.  Still, I’ll believe it when I see it.  They have 2-3 in-store coffee houses now, developed and run by an outside source that they are testing.  I doubt Starbucks is shaking in their boots.  The coffee is $1.25 a cup to S’Bucks $1.40 or so; I can’t stand Starbucks business practices either, so I’m not rooting for either side.
