Wal-Mart Sells Coffins…

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Don’t look for them on the shelves of your local Wal-Mart store, but Walmart.com is now selling caskets and urns at bargain prices online.
The Associated Press reports that Wal-Mart quietly added these items to its huge online selection last week. And it noted that Costco has been selling caskets and urns online as well. Who knew?
This is great news, we think, because the exorbitant prices charged by funeral homes have been one of our pet peeves for decades. Funeral homes are required by law to accept a casket you buy elsewhere — and can’t charge you extra if you do.

I agree that burial costs are too high and generally come at a time when people’s emotions are raw and they could be vulnerable to making poor decisions.
So, will this give liberals more or less reason to hate Wal-Mart?

SO what? They are under cutting the massively overpriced scumbags in the funeral industry. Thats what. High time the thieves and liars in the funeral industry got the living sh$t kicked out of them.

Give anyone an idea for Christmas gifts?

  • sayanything-43

I’m been just dying to get one of those.

  • sayanything-8606

Actually they are in the For the Home Dept.

Wal Mart is edging toward monopoiizing everything we need.

Personally, I think this is pretty cool.

If anyone has had the unfortunate duty of burying a friend or relative recently you know that the prices for caskets are obscene. I don’t know what sort of mark ups exist in the funeral industry, but my admittedly non-expert opinion is that they’re well over 100%.

Let’s hope Wal-Mart can eat into that. Far too survivors are saddled with exorbitant funeral and burial fees.

    “Really? Got proof of that?”

Walmart support of federal health care. Walmart knows all the other companies can’t afford it so will squeeze them out. Just good business for Walmart, obviously they want to continue to grow.

This is cool and funny at the same time, although there is nothing wrong in selling things like that.

Costco also sells coffins. So what?

  • sayanything-3444

Liberals will just claim that they're cheap Chinese made coffins, putting hard-working Americans out of a job. I'm kidding … sort of.

Funny! I mentioned this to my wife last night, and she said she wouldn't be caught dead in a Wal-Mart coffin!

  • sayanything-1858

What category would they be under on the website? I'm guessing it's not likely to be "outdoor living?"

  • sayanything-7805

Well I always said 'if walmart sold cars and coffins I wouldn't have to shop anywhere else.' guess i'm halfway there!

You do know that our burial rituals smack of pagan idolatry, right? The body is supposed to return to the earth, not be preserved forever. Pine box and a hot fire. Or just skip the box, straight to fire.

  • sayanything-2

    Really? Got proof of that?

  • sayanything-2

Yep, playing by the rules. How dare they!
