Vulgar C List Comic Sandra Bernhard Fired For Crude Remarks About Palin

When comic (and I use that term very, very loosely) Sandra Bernhard made the crude and distasteful comment that Sarah Palin would be gang raped by her “big black brothers” I didn’t think too much of it because in the food chain of life she occupies a very low place, and if I spend time responding to something someone said I want it to be time well spent addressing the thoughts of someone who at least leaves a foorprint where they tread, not the insectoid ramblings of a lowlife.

Therefore what she thinks and says really doesn’t matter beyond the fact that she’s repulsive and her views match her demeanor.

Apparently, however,  some ladies who run a battered women’s shelter in Boston disagree with me on that point and have fired her:

A Boston women’s shelter cut comedienne and Obama supporter Sandra Bernhard from its annual benefit after she said Sarah Palin would be gang-raped if she ever visited New York.

[...]

Bernhard’s made the remarks last month during her one-woman show in Washington D.C., before Palin visited New York to campaign. Bernhard said Palin would be “gang-raped by my big black brothers” during a diatribe in which she also criticized Palin for opposing abortion rights.

Many guests at Rosie’s Place, a Boston shelter, have been victims of violence, public relations director Leemarie Mosca said.

“In light of our mission, we don’t think violence against women is a laughing matter,” she said.

Good for them. I would go even deeper into that particular issue, but I have another question about her comment: Where are the liberal groups and the NAACP about the fact that she thinks “her big black brothers” are low enough to do just that?

To add unintentional comedy to the whole thing, she says this:

But on her website, Bernhard described her comedy as dealing with “racism, freedom, women’s rights, and the extreme views of Governor Sarah Palin—a woman who doesn’t believe that other women should have the right to choose.

“I certainly wish Governor Palin no harm—I’d just like her to explain to me how she can hold such outrageous views ... and then go back to Alaska,” Bernhard wrote.

So…..let me get this straight. She wants to battle racism and then insults black men by painting them as animalistic rapists. Hmmm. Way to fight the good fight there, Sandra. And - she wants to fight for women’s rights and then fantasizes out loud about a woman being gang raped. Not funny. Borderline insane, maybe, but not funny.

One more thing. I like the way she says she demands that Governor Palin explain her views to her, as if standing on a stage and being a vulgarian puts her in some special place.

I’m sure the Governor will get right on that.
