Vulgar C List Comic Sandra Bernhard Fired For Crude Remarks About Palin

When comic (and I use that term very, very loosely) Sandra Bernhard made the crude and distasteful comment that Sarah Palin would be gang raped by her “big black brothers” I didn’t think too much of it because in the food chain of life she occupies a very low place, and if I spend time responding to something someone said I want it to be time well spent addressing the thoughts of someone who at least leaves a foorprint where they tread, not the insectoid ramblings of a lowlife.

Therefore what she thinks and says really doesn’t matter beyond the fact that she’s repulsive and her views match her demeanor.

Apparently, however, some ladies who run a battered women’s shelter in Boston disagree with me on that point and have fired her:

A Boston women’s shelter cut comedienne and Obama supporter Sandra Bernhard from its annual benefit after she said Sarah Palin would be gang-raped if she ever visited New York.

[...]

Bernhard’s made the remarks last month during her one-woman show in Washington D.C., before Palin visited New York to campaign. Bernhard said Palin would be “gang-raped by my big black brothers” during a diatribe in which she also criticized Palin for opposing abortion rights.

Many guests at Rosie’s Place, a Boston shelter, have been victims of violence, public relations director Leemarie Mosca said.

“In light of our mission, we don’t think violence against women is a laughing matter,” she said.

Good for them. I would go even deeper into that particular issue, but I have another question about her comment: Where are the liberal groups and the NAACP about the fact that she thinks “her big black brothers” are low enough to do just that?

To add unintentional comedy to the whole thing, she says this:

But on her website, Bernhard described her comedy as dealing with “racism, freedom, women’s rights, and the extreme views of Governor Sarah Palin—a woman who doesn’t believe that other women should have the right to choose.

“I certainly wish Governor Palin no harm—I’d just like her to explain to me how she can hold such outrageous views ... and then go back to Alaska,” Bernhard wrote.

So.....let me get this straight. She wants to battle racism and then insults black men by painting them as animalistic rapists. Hmmm. Way to fight the good fight there, Sandra. And - she wants to fight for women’s rights and then fantasizes out loud about a woman being gang raped. Not funny. Borderline insane, maybe, but not funny.

One more thing. I like the way she says she demands that Governor Palin explain her views to her, as if standing on a stage and being a vulgarian puts her in some special place.

I’m sure the Governor will get right on that.

the good news is this person was fired…

These comics, especially if they are female, lacking in feminine traits, beauty, and a personality that would not get them past the front door of a dirty shit house stall seem to try to conger up laughs about successful non-liberal women.

Guess it is a way to make a living. They could probably get more laughs by just telling the truth about themselves.

My question stands: Where are the liberals on her prtraying black men as gang rapists?

If any conservative would have said the same, they would have been villified.

Pilgrim,

Obviously, those on the Left do not regard her remarks about black males as gang rapists to be either insulting or racist.  Clearly, its not what is said but who says it that matters.

Of course there are damn few liberals who are sufficiently intelligent to understand the hopeless paradox in all this… and fewer yet with the integrity to acknowledge the truth.  But it does reinforce the idea that accusations of racism from those on the Left are best ignored or dismissed as so much prattle rather than taken seriously.

And besides that, the poor ole girl is just common, plain, hard-ugly.

I too wonder where the NAACP, NOW, and other special interest groups are? Unless it is OK because she was speaking about a Republican Conservative VP Candidate that just so happens to be running against a Democrat “Black” man for President? Perhaps the MSM just don’t want this to get out 30 days before the election? We have witnessed quite a bit of Racism and Sexism in this particular Presidential Race and it seems to go unnoticed by the special interest groups. Look how they responded to Imus? Where is everyone? This shows exactly how NOW does NOT Really care about women.

Is she related to Al Franken?

Brother,

She may be butt ugly and dumb as rocks, but no one is so stupid as to acknowledge being related to Al Franken.

Calling Sandra Bernhard a skank is an insult to women who provide sexual services at Greyhound Bus depots.

I work in the Social Services here in Boston, I know Rosie’s very well.  They did themselves a service by ditching that harridan-in-training.

People are too sensitive about race in this country. This is understandable in lieu of segregation and racist behavior that’s still in memory. However, the main point was meant to challenge Palin’s anti-abortion stance with a strong image meant to convey the extreme of the situation. Bernhard has the right to rant just like anyone else. Reverend Wright anyone?

I’m with Elliot on this one.
She shouldn’t have been fired for making anti-Palin comments.
She should have been fired for breech of contract.
After all, wasn’t she hired as a chick comic?
She’s not been funny in a long while & I know gynecologists that wouldn’t even look up her skirt.
