Video: West Virginia Voting Machine Picks Ralph Nader When Voter Picks John McCain

Here we go again…

There’s a good damn reason why people don’t trust voting machines. With all the problems we’ve had in the past, why should they?
I think it’s high time we give up on digital voting. Yes, I know many localities have invested a lot of money in it, but at this point there’s no use throwing good money after bad. Voting is the bedrock foundation our nation is built on. If people don’t feel like their votes are counted properly. If they feel like it gets lost in a maze of digital glitches and fraudulent voting (I’m looking at you, Barack Obama and ACORN) the American people are going to lose faith.
And that’s a dangerous, dangerous thing to let happen.
Give people pens and paper. Have them mark the votes. Then put the paper in a locked box.
Problem solved. At least the digital voting problem, anyway.
By the way, note that the voting machine allows the voter to cast a ballot for a straight Republican or Democrat party line ticket. I think that’s a bunch of nonsense. In fact, I’m not even sure we should identify the political parties of the candidates on the ballot.
If the voter doesn’t know who the candidates are he/she shouldn’t be voting.

what did they do?, borrow Florida's old machines?

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

Imagine repeating those lies about Florida just makes you look like an idiot.

So it turns out that Congresses reaction to the perceived difficulties in Florida actually made matters worse. What was the chance of that.

IMHO every voter should get a paper ballot when they vote. This ballot might be machine generated (ie you enter your choices on a computer touch screen.) I believe that would help restore confidence in the voting process.

We also need to seriously crack down on Fraud. Photo ID's are an absolute must as well as ways to ensure that people don't vote more than once (but by all means vote once if you wish). Maybe we should even take a lesson from the Iraqi elections and require people to dip their fingers in ink as they vote.

Of course the Democrats are all in favor of vote fraud as we see going on in Ohio as we speak.

I just don't get this deal with having 500 different methods for voting. Why don't they just do it like they do here in NC?

To vote in NC, You sign in, get a paper ballot, fill in the circle you want to vote for, and then put it in the machine which reads the vote and it is counted. Simple and there is a paper trail.

  • mplsbob

Bill, we have the same process as NC in MN. Makes sense because you then have a paper trail in case some strange results appear. Why doesn't everyone have this?

  • Hawk

I don't have a problem with the electronic voting machines as long as there is a receipt that is printed out where the voter can verify his vote and if need be the recount can be of the paper receipts.

  • Hawk

I think we should just give people ball bearings and have them drop them in a bucket. You than count by the weight of the buckets. Because as you know… "its all ball bearings these days."

  • suze

I find it really hard to beleive that these machines just "go out of calibraton" Touch screen technology is not new, industry uses them EVERYWHERE!! What is the real problem here? Can you imagine if our ATMs suddenly "went out of calibraton? Or our Ticket Dispensers at the airport?
This stinks of somehting entirely different; it's NOT the technology

  • Hannitized

    Rob speaks out of both sides of his mouth, again;

Voting is the bedrock foundation our nation is built on. If people don't feel like their votes are counted properly. If they feel like it gets lost in a maze of digital glitches and fraudulent voting (I'm looking at you, Barack Obama and ACORN) the American people are going to lose faith.

    Then…

If the voter doesn't know who the candidates are he/she shouldn't be voting.

So voting is the bedrock foundation our country is built on, but not all Americans should vote if they don't know which one represents their party……according to YOU!

And I am supposed to be worried about Barack Obama and not your fascist and elitist view of the world???

I think you need to chill out Rob. Americans have the right to vote along party lines.

  • Hannitized

    Rob,

You are making the mistake that just because you are obsessed with politics, that you know more than a person who isn't.

Let me let you in on a little secret pal. No matter what a person may tell about your party is negative, you will still vote along party lines.

So how does that differ from someone who want's to vote along party lines, even though they don't know anything about that persons views anyway.

I would wager 80% of each party votes their party, even if they know more than the next guy. Nothing changes the mind of ideologues anyway.

  • pparets

Hannitized… is there a coherent thought in this…?

No matter what a person may tell about your party is negative, you will still vote along party lines.

So how does that differ from someone who want's to vote along party lines, even though they don't know anything about that persons views anyway.

No… don't get all insulted. Proof-read it and ask yourself if your comment makes any sense whatever?

  • 2Hotel9

Long story short, electronic voting is a total loser. If you are so stupid, as sannitized is, that you can not understand a simple paper ballot you damned well should not vote. Or operate a motor vehicle. Or any cooking device. Or go out in public without adult supervision.

    Hanny,

I have to agree. This arguement you are using makes little or no sense. You and I disagree on most issues, but I'm not even sure what you are trying to put forth here. It just seems like an attack on Rob for the way he has worded things. Hotel is right, if you are not mentally capable of marking a paper with an x or black out a circle, then, no, you should not vote. I think that voting is very important to our country. I still think that everyone that is allowed to vote be required to pass a basic knowledge test. It is required to get citizenship, to get a driver's license, etc. Also, I think it should be required you show proper i.d., show proof of residence and everone must have a certified voter card. It is not brain surgery, if you really want to vote, you will make the effort. This crap of letting people use park benches for residences is ludicris. People who want government aid or food stamps will gather up the needed documentation and never seem to have any problem making it to the government offices that provide these things to them. So this giving them rides because they otherwise couldn't get there is bunk, too. If people want something bad enough, it seems they will always make the effort.
