Video Of National Heritage Area Town Hall Shows Tracy Potter Lying To The Audience

KFYR has their television report up of the National Heritage Area land grab town hall which happened last night.  You can view it by clicking here..

What you’ll see:

First, the reporter claims that the NHA is just a small area between Oppen and the Knife River Indian Village.  That’s spin from state Senator Tracy Potter, Senator Byron Dorgan and their cronies in this matter.  The truth is that as the bill is written now the NHA encompasses all of the land in five North Dakota counties: Burleigh, Morton, Oliver, McLean and Mercer.  That’s 4.7 million acres.

Second, Tracy Potter claims that “nobody” wants to touch the land owner’s land.  Patently false.  The entire point behind the National Heritage Area designation is to fund Potter’s group (to the tune of $10 million over 15 years) to develop a “management plan” for the area.  How can Potter say that nobody’s land will be impacted when they’re charged with creating a “management plan”?

Third, you’ll see former state legislator Margaret Sitte explaining to the audience what exactly Potter’s group will be doing with all this public input now that they’ve already got their land designation and their funding is in the piple.  They’ll be “shoving it under the table.”

Potter and his ilk care little for the rights of property owners.  If they did, property owners wouldn’t be hearing about this after their land as already designated without giving them an opportunity to weigh in on the designation or even opt out of it.
