Video: House Republicans Try To Fix Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac In 2004, Get Stifled By Democrats

Key quote from Rep. Maxine Waters: “Mr. Chairman, we do not have a crisis at Freddie Mac…”

Personally, I think there’s enough blame to go around for both Republicans and Democrats. But if Obama and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are going to try and lay this at the feet of Republicans, it’s worth pointing that Democrat hands aren’t clean either.

Shelby, the top Republican on the Senate Banking Committee, had earlier told CNBC that he had serious doubts about the proposal.

The banks that issued CRA loans are not the banks in trouble.

    WOOF,

Could you please have the decency to actually KNOW what you’re talking about?

Of course the banks that issued the CRA loans are not the ones now in trouble. The loans themselves were all bundled and securitized. It is those securities that are the problem and it is the institutions that issued, insured, cross-collateralized, purchased, or traded on them, that are now in trouble.

It’s time to get tough with these gangsters.

Before I left ND in 1985 I had considered running for office in the state. I had been a pretty successful businessman, lots of supporters, conservative but life turned out different. Moved to IL

Now seeing all this, my temperament would not have leant itself to this.

I’m just a bit mean and not very PC. SIGH
