He said he “is concerned about what the people are thinking” so he then knows how to subvert our will we he crosses over the border on the way back to Washington DC.

Senator Comb over, spining like his other buddies in the senate.

I can’t be the only one that doesn’t fine him entertaining at all or believable? Ugh.

If he doesn’t care about elections, then he should step down and pass the mantle to others and come back to ND and do something that will directly affect North Dakotans.
The fact that he doesn’t seem to grasp what most people were trying to say, and was condescending at the same time that he came across as clueless is bizarre.
Pursuit of Happiness
Someone should give Senator Dorgan a shovel because he sure put out a lot of crap at the Jamestown townhall meeting:
1) On abortion funding, he said there is no bill being considering that calls for abortion funding. Boy, did he stink it up on that one. Congressman Tom Price M.D. has stated that if the bill does not explictly exclude the coverage of abortion the procedure will be covered. Dorgan also said the Hyde amendment does not allow for the public funding of abortion. The Hyde Amendment only covers Medicaid – it would not apply to this bill. Senator Dorgan knows both of these points. It is his way of deceiving his voters while at the same time getting abortion funding into the bill. If he truly is opposed to abortion funding let him introduce an amendment that explicitly excludes it. Come on Senator put up or shut up!
2. He also stated he would oppose a bill that called for the rationing of health care. But when pressed on how the government is going to cut 500 billion dollars in Medicare and at the same time insure 10s of millions of more people and not cut benefits, he stated that one would have to control over utiliztion. Really! Do you think what the government views as over utilization a patient might view as rationing? Death panels anyone.
3. His self righteous tirade on socialism just about made me gag. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are examples of socialism! The formation of these programs had more to do with bribing voters to cast their ballot for Democrats than it had to do with compassion for the nation’s citizens. We could have designed those programs in a way that provided financial incentives for people to provide for there own retirement and health care. These programs should have been means tested and targeted. However, since these programs where meant to bribe voters, this was never even considered. The Democratic party’s legacy for this nation will be destroying the greatest captalistic country the world has ever seen and turning it into a banana republic!
4.On global warming, did you notice how he demanded the person finish making his statement before he would answer the question. That is probably because he never intended to answer the question. He stated that there is a broad scientific consensus on climate change and that he agrees with that. Of course that was not the question. The direct question was whether he believed the problem was MAN MADE! Do you notice how these PC types have not been talking about global warming lately – it’s “climate change!” Can the good Senator tell me how any change in climate that strikes his fancy fits into the theory of “greenhouse gas effect.”
5. The Senator is at his socialistic best when he gets to attack the drug companies. He really gets going when he can tell his Lippitor(sp?) story. Thank God for American drug companies – they do probably most of the expensive research and development that results in new miracle drugs. You know I never hear Senator Dorgan complaining about all the taxes the feds collect from the drug companies. I know! Senator Dorgan should propose a bill that turns half the money collected from the drug companies back over to the people in the form of tax credits. That’s a way to stick it to those “evil drug companies” Senator! I could maybe even support you in that effort.
6. Lastly, he never positively responded to the continued call by the audience to allow consumers to buy insurance across state lines. He kept talking about “downward pressure on cost” and “competition” but never acknowledged this as an idea that would do exactly what he was preaching!
Senator, I used to think you where pretty slick at these events but that was awful. Regretfully, I would have to grade your performance an F. Informed people know that you had know workable solutions for health care reform. Rob, I propose you present Senator Dorgan with the “Golden Shovel Award.” That is the most crap I have seen put out in a long time!
