Video: Dede Scozzafava Gives First Post-Election Interview

She seems very conciliatory to me. Regretful at how personal the campaign got (though I opposed her candidacy, things like Rush claiming she could be charged with bestiality were just plain over the line), but calling for strong GOP leadership to make sure that “independent voices are heard from.”
Which is something I think we can all agree with.

Her calls for unity seem a bit weak after she essentially stabbed Republicans in the back by backing the Democrat candidate. If her views are so compatible with limited government principles, how does she reconcile that with endorsing the Democrat?
Regardless, I think the biggest problem in New York 23 is that the local GOP handled the situation badly. At a time when there was clearly a rift in the party’s base in the area, the party leadership tried to just pick a candidate and run with it. And while that may have worked in the past, this time around someone should have recognized that it was going to generate a lot of resentment.

Technically Hoffman wasn’t a Republican candidate.

And mountain… she had a solid record of caucusing with the Republicans.

I don’t have a problem with opposing a candidate based on ideology, but I really don’t see the need to vilify everybody who thinks differently than you do.

Fundamentally I think that this all could have been avoided with a primary. As I pointed out New York state wouldn’t have paid for it, but if the national Republican thinks it has a say in who gets selected for a given district, they should fund for the primary themselves.

    Can’t have it both ways.

“Technically Hoffman wasn’t a Republican candidate.”

She didn’t owe Hoffman anything. However the conservatives in the Republican party were the ones that got screwed over.

Now why would they vote for her in the state race?

When voters of NY23, a district that had gone gop for about 100 years, were given the choice between a right wing extremist Con and a middle of the road Dem, the Dem won.

    End of story.

Sounds like someone had a come to Jesus with her, and no, she don’t sound convincing in the least.

For 22 years, Rush has plainly stated that he “illustrates absurdity by being absurd”, so the whining lefties have absolutely no excuse.

Could she have been WORSE for the party? I mean endorsing a Democrat to get back at the conservatives in her own party?

  • sayanything-9974

Rush was right she screwed the RINO’s. She would have been a solid vote with the Democraps on every issue. The only one calling her a ‘moderate’ are RINO’s and Liberals. She pulled a Colin Powell by backing the Democrap when push came to shove. These things should not be forgotten. I would like to know who put her on the ticket to represent Republicans. They should be made to explain and held accountable. If it is a litmus test to expect your candidate to have some of the same values as the constituents, then yes there should be a litmus test. Liberal/Progressive should not be allowed to claim the mantle and prestige of the Republican party. There is already a party that represents deception, liars, marxism and corruption – Let the Democraps own it.

Rush claiming she could be charged with bestiality were just plain over the line

I’m sorry, but when you get to the punchline “She’s screwing RINOs”, that’s just plain funny.
It was typical of the humorless libs to try to take Rush’s joke at face value. The charge was so preposterous, it had to be seen as a pun.

Paging Congressman Owens, Bill Owens call your office!

Scuzzy didn’t even have the backing of her former constituents as past Mayor of Governuer. Hoffman is a rank amateur, as events are revealing, ballsy but a bit of a rube. He should have stayed independent and told the RNCC to sod off.

I think Mr. Owens will be in a bit of a fix next Nov.

Actually the district has gone mainly Donk since FDR, Rbb. The MSM and Pelosi jobbed us on that one.

Easy there Rbb, it’s not quite the end of the story ’til the story is over.

More ignorant lies from you, rbb. Conservatives are neither “right-wing”(that’s you leftie fascists) nor “extremist”(unless you regard individual independence as “extreme”).
You fascist totalitarian lefties are the extremists, and it’s normal for real Americans to oppose you in trying to rob us of our freedom.

Oh my… I see this being pretty interesting for the voting public…

  • sayanything-1714

Except for you vilify people who think differently than you do…..

    Jezus christ you are delusional.

  • sayanything-2

Carrick? Her vote record is with Democrats. She is a liar, and a backstabbing bitch.

  • sayanything-4124

That is going to be very interesting to see play out.
