She seems very conciliatory to me. Regretful at how personal the campaign got (though I opposed her candidacy, things like Rush claiming she could be charged with bestiality were just plain over the line), but calling for strong GOP leadership to make sure that “independent voices are heard from.”
Which is something I think we can all agree with.
Her calls for unity seem a bit weak after she essentially stabbed Republicans in the back by backing the Democrat candidate. If her views are so compatible with limited government principles, how does she reconcile that with endorsing the Democrat?
Regardless, I think the biggest problem in New York 23 is that the local GOP handled the situation badly. At a time when there was clearly a rift in the party’s base in the area, the party leadership tried to just pick a candidate and run with it. And while that may have worked in the past, this time around someone should have recognized that it was going to generate a lot of resentment.
