Video: DC Cop Brings A Gun To A Snowball Fight

A DC cop pulls a gun on some Washington DC citizens who were enjoying a good snowball fight.

From Reason:

Around 2.30PM on Saturday, December 19, during a historic snowstorm, residents at the intersection of 14th and U Streets NW started throwing snowballs at passing Hummers. One of the cars pelted was driven by a plainclothes police officer identified only as Det. Baylor. Baylor got out of his car and brandished his gun at the crowd. Reason.tv’s Dan Hayes was on the scene, capturing the tense confrontation between police and citizens who chanted “Don’t bring a gun to a snowball fight!” Approximately 5 minutes; harsh language throughout.

I know DC doesn’t get a lot of snow, but surely this cop is familiar with snowballs, no? And that your Hummer getting pasted with one in the windshield isn’t cause to pull your gun on the crowd?

um….their mayor and now city council member is a crack addict. why would you expect something from a corrupt, crime riddled town like this?

also, im a glad to see a cop can afford to drive a $100,000 car in a town thats broke.

    Eco-terrorism.
We have laws for Eco- terrorists.

    Full disclosure:
    1) I have been on both sides of the snowball.
    2) Never drew a weapon at a snowball fight.

They should have burned his fake hummer. According to Criswell Hummer, http://criswellhummer.com/ they average around $40,000.

DC cops, at least during the Clinton administration, had about the worst record in the 57 states of accidental and/or unjustified killings. That went along well with their extremely high, per capita, murder rate for the district overall. My understanding was that a very high proportion of those murders were never solved.

Thus, trigger happy cops that didn’t protect the people they were supposed to protect, but A-number-1 at killing their own citizens without just cause.

I was glad to leave DC and haven’t missed it since.

Are Hummers that expensive? I don’t think so. Probably about half that.

    Even so, good point.
