Victory For Hezbollah

Sigh…

The United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 1701 Friday evening, calling for a cessation of hostilities between Hizbullah and Israel.
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will recommend to the cabinet that it accept the UNSC resolution at its weekly meeting Sunday.
The resolution authorizes the deployment of 15,000 UN peacekeepers in south Lebanon in support of Lebanese army forces, which are to move into the region and replace Hizbullah in parallel with a withdrawal of Israeli forces.
Israel is not required to withdraw until the deployment of UN and Lebanese forces begins.
The new UN peacekeeping force, still under the auspices of UNIFIL, will, according to the resolution, be enhanced “in numbers, equipment, mandate and scope of operations.” The 15,000-strong force will be charged with helping the Lebanese government to implement its sovereignty “over all Lebanese territory,” including that previously been under the de facto authority of Hizbullah.

So UNIFIL forces will be in charge of disarming Hezbollah? Would that be the same UNIFIL forces that are actually deployed with Hezbollah? To the point where they actually fly their flags right next to each other and share water/telephones?
Yeah, those folks are going to be real effective against Hezbollah.
I’m not convinced that any UN force or the Lebanese force has the will, let alone the capability, to disarm Hezbollah and take back the land they occupy. It just won’t happen. These forces will be deployed, Israel will pull back and we’ll all forget about what happened until Hezbollah is rested and re-supplied to the point where they can resume attacks on Israel.
Like I’ve said before, the only lasting solution to this conflict is to let the two sides fight until one side loses.

Democrats enjoy giving aid and comfort to the enemy for no purpose other than giving aid and comfort to the enemy. There is no plausible explanation for the Democrat’s behavior other than they long to see U.S. troops shot, humiliated, and driven from the field of battle.
I’m sure they’re loving this Hezbollah victory. They continue to fill the airwaves with treason, but when called to vote on their own proposals to withdraw troops, they disavow their own public statements.
These people are not only traitors, they are gutless traitors.
They always deny this so here are a few examples:
This is just the tip of the iceberg!!!!!!

    John Murtha
Playing into the hands of the terrorists, Rep. John Murtha, an influential Pennsylvania lawmaker and outspoken critic of the war in Iraq, said Marines had “killed innocent civilians in cold blood” after allegedly responding to a roadside bomb ambush that killed a Marine during a patrol in Haditha, Iraq, Nov. 19. He didn’t care that he was putting our soldiers in additional harms way.

    Ward Churchill

University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill suggested to a forum on conscientious objection they might be more effective in opposing war if they supported the “fragging” or killing of line officers.” Churchill is a darling of the leftwing academics that run our universities and is a pre-eminent key note speaker on the college lecture circuit.

    Michael Moore

While few expected them to actually go through with it, an anti-war group, United for Peace, has backed down from their threats to overthrow the Bush Administration and turn the country over to representatives such as Amnesty International. The “attack” on the White House was scheduled for March 15.

The threat gained traction when left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore showed support for their goal on his own website.

    Storm the White House
Multi-Day Event, Beginning March 15, come when you can and stay as long as you can — we are taking over the White House until they leave.

TAKE THE WHITE HOUSE BY STORM — Stop Genocide, Torture and Occupation

U.N. SOS — we need your help to end the reign of international criminals.

The World Criminal Courts need to incarcerate Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld for admitted crimes and known crimes of international scope.

    From his website:

“The Muslims who have risen up against the occupation are not “insurgents” or “terrorists” or “The Enemy.” They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow — and they will win”

    John Kerry

JOHN KERRY: I don’t agree with that. But I think what we need to do is recognize what we all agree on, which is, you’ve got to begin to set benchmarks for accomplishment; you’ve got to begin to transfer authority to the Iraqis, and there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the — of — of — of — historical customs, religious customs, whether you like it or not. Iraqis should be doing that.”

    Nicholas De Genova
    Columbia University

Words of Professor Nicholas De Genova:
“If we really [believe] that this war is criminal . . . then we have to believe in the victory of the Iraqi people and the defeat of the U.S. war machine.”
“The only true heroes are those who find ways that help defeat the U.S. military”

This sick man also said that Americans who call themselves “patriots” are white supremacists and that American soldiers should suffer “a million Mogadishus” in Iraq.

I see no other way to interpret this than as a complete defeat for Israel. Hezbollah is now regarded with awe throughout the Arab/Muslim world, as it has become the first military organization to stand up to the vaunted Israeli army. Now, I blame this at least in part on the hesitant campaign waged by Israel’s military leaders, but regardless, this is an overwhelming Hezbollah victory (and Iranian victory by proxy).

Though I am and will remain a strong supporter of Israel, I have never been more pessimistic about its chances for survival. Kofi Annan, the chief anti-Semite in an organization full of anti-Semites, must be doing handsprings right now………..

Foreign Policy 101: Set goals to reflect the capability you have, not what you wish you had.
There never was a chance that Israel could destroy Hezbollah. They’re simply too integral a part of Lebanon.
It’s unfortunate so many had to die to return us to the status quo.

So, IDF pulls out after the “peacekeepers” deploy. Where are these 15,000 troops at this moment? How will they be transported into the theater of operations? Where will the artillery and close-air support wings be deployed? And France is in charge? They can not handle Muslim teenagers in the streets of their cities. How are they going to handle armed terrorists in the mountains of another country? It is very possible that we will see Olmert pitched out of office on his ass. The people of Israel want Hizbullah and Hamas destroyed, not negotiated with.

The ineffectual UN and the Lebanese army- enforcing something they’d already refused to enforce for how long?

Is this the same Lebonese army that everyone was saying had almost 2/3 of it’s members involved with Hizb’allah some way?

Israel now illustrates the folly of “bipartisanship”.

  • aNONOMISLY

or decisition to go along with this ‘resolution’ is the correct one, I believe.

We gave Israel a month-long green light, expecting a Blitzkrieg response against Hezbullah that never came.

  • docdave

Another way to look at this is that a cease fire permits Israel to setup and secure supply lines to its frontline troops. Hezbollah doesn’t have this problem since they are supplied directly by Iran via Syria. In addition, Israel doesn’t have a large enough population to secure conquered lands which being surrounded by potential enemies would be in constant danger of rocket and suicide bomber attacks similar to those experienced by their mainland. Really Israel is ‘between the rock and the hard place’ whatever she does.
