US Numb To Deaths In Iraq?
I link, you decide.

If Americans are numb to the deaths of U.S. troops in Iraq the media has only itself to blame. Their concentration on body counts in Iraq, to the exclusion of almost everything else that goes on in that country, has to be the cause of it. What else would we expect from Americans when every time they open their newspapers or turn on their televisions they’re inundated with reports of bombings, attacks and deaths.
It is a testament to the media’s blatantly one-sided, myopic coverage of the war in Iraq. Not to mention the media’s willingness to be manipulated by the terrorists who have tailored the scope of their attacks to generate this very sort of media coverage with the ultimate goal of dispiriting the American people.
On a related note, I just couldn’t help put highlight this ghoulish quote:
Yahya Kamalipour, head of the communications department at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, said that if the media showed footage of the actual U.S. military deaths in Iraq then it would reduce some of the public numbness.
“Whether we are talking about the U.S. casualties, Iraqi casualties, or Afghanis. We are not thinking of them, whoever they are, as people — they are faceless, they are just simply numbers and that is troublesome,” he said.
Right. Let’s go ahead and show footage of our troops getting shot or torn apart by bombs. Because we need to shock the American people so that they stop supporting this evil war in Iraq.
