Ungrateful

The anti-war activists from Christian Peacemaker Teams who were being held captive in Iraq have been rescued by U.S. and British special forces.

BAGHDAD, Iraq — U.S. and British troops Thursday freed three Christian peace activists in rural Iraq without firing a shot, ending a four-month hostage drama in which an American among the group was shot to death and dumped on a Baghdad street.
Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch, the U.S. military spokesman, said the hostages were being held by a “kidnapping cell,” and the operation to free the captives was based on information from a man captured by U.S. forces only three hours earlier.
No kidnappers were present when the troops broke into a house in western Baghdad. The captives’ hands were tied, Lynch said.
“They were bound, they were together, there were no kidnappers in the areas,” Lynch told a news briefing.

Of course, “rescue” isn’t the word being used by this moonbat group.

Our hearts are filled with joy today as we heard that Harmeet Singh Sooden, Jim Loney and Norman Kember have been safely released in Baghdad.

Safely released? They were rescued by men with guns who chased their murdering captors away.
Read the whole statement from Christian Peacemaker Teams above. Notice that not once is thanks given to the troops who did the rescuing. The only time the military is mentioned, in fact, is to blame them for the fact that the kidnapping took place in the first place.
Kind of disgusting, no? A man without my better sense might say that it would have been better to just leave them there. That’s not right, though. It is good that they’ve been rescued and are out of the hands of those monsters. But still, what miserable people.
Sadly, though, this is symptomatic of the anti-war left in general. When you don’t believe that a war is just you can’t ever see your way clear to appreciate what our troops are doing. Not even when they rescue you from people who were hold you captive and murdered your friend.
Update by likwidshoe: It seems that their own words were embarrassing them. The opening sentence now reads:

Our hearts are filled with joy today as we heard that Harmeet Singh Sooden, Jim Loney and Norman Kember have been freed safely in Baghdad.

No link to provide but I’ve heard a couple of times on tv that the kidnappers were less terrorists than criminal gang.

    For anyone else who might wish to directly express their outrage at these "Christian" ingrates who can’t be bothered to thank the troops who risked their lives to save these people’s sorry asses, their e-mail address is;

Before you or anyone else attempts to pigeonhole me with some allegations that I hold this opinion based on any religious afiliation then I want to say…….STOP.

I have no concern of this groups religious belief. I don’t care if they are christian, buddist, baptist or devil worshipper…or agnostic.

I’m simply calling them "ingrates" because of their lack of common decency.

If the kidnappers were in fact criminals rather than political terrorists then maybe they sold the American hostage to another group. The part I find odd is that the American would be killed but not the Briton which leads me to think that there’s more than political motivation at work. Just speculating and wondering of course.

I still believe this was all a put up job. The American was the only one harmed. The others have made statements in support of their kidnappers. They sold the American for their own safety. How very Christian of them.

TH9…maybe you should get together with Charlie Sheen and swap theories.

So, Mike. Why were they not killed? Was a ransom pay out in the works when the IA and Coalition troops queered the deal and broke them out?

FWIW, Canada’s PM is quoted as passing on thanks from the Canadian hostages to their rescuers. It is weird that thanks weren’t given to those responsible in the press release but I’m glad they’re on their way home.

Usually I find that there is more than enough sectarian stupidity and hypocrisy to take aim at, without criticizing other people’s religous practices.

The so-called "Christian Peacemaker Teams" have issued a revised statement which now acknowledges… sort of… the risks taken by those who freed these hostages.

But I note that CPT, despite their professed Christianity, has yet to acknowldge the dire situation of Afghani Christian convert, Abdul Rahman.  Given the context of the group’s other statements excoriating the US and UK forces, and their avowed mission in Iraq, I find this "oversight" to be even more hypocritical and offensive than the statement first issued upon the hostages release.

    Christian, my ass!

Thanks Mark, I’ve posted on that.

Did you see the article where these folks are refusing to cooperate with military intelligence officers looking to debrief them on their time with the terrorists?

Mike, it is nice to have a friendlier government up there in Canada.

I am glad they are on their way home rather than laying in a ditch somewhere minus their heads.  I just wish they’d get it straight about who the good guys are in this conflict.
