Under Obamacare, If You Don’t Buy Health Insurance You Go To Jail
Can the federal government force you to buy things? Apparently the Democrats think so, because under their plans for health care if you don’t buy health insurance that meets their standards you go to jail.
Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.
Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it “Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold.”
The point here, of course, isn’t to put people into jail but rather to herd people into dependence on government health care. If you can’t afford the health insurance you will be required to purchase you’ll be herded onto some tax-subsidized government plan (or “co-op” plan or whatever other term you want to use for it). Which is really what the liberals want in the first place.
More people dependent on the government for health care means more government control.
