Can the federal government force you to buy things? Apparently the Democrats think so, because under their plans for health care if you don’t buy health insurance that meets their standards you go to jail.

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.
Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it “Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold.”

The point here, of course, isn’t to put people into jail but rather to herd people into dependence on government health care. If you can’t afford the health insurance you will be required to purchase you’ll be herded onto some tax-subsidized government plan (or “co-op” plan or whatever other term you want to use for it). Which is really what the liberals want in the first place.
More people dependent on the government for health care means more government control.

I disagree with them voting that way. I think it was wrong. Medicare is doing horribly and expanding it is making the problem worse.

I don’t Fly, this was a stupid political stunt by the Democrats. They knew they couldn’t lose. The Republicans don’t have enough votes to win because the majority is heavily Democrat. So you use the results against the Republicans anyway! Republicans vote for it, you do like ole Bob is doing, “See Republicans are for socialized medicine! They are hypocrites for opposing health care reform! If they vote to do away with Medicare then you say, “See Republicans are heartless monsters that want to kill your grandparents!”. Its the political equivalent of asking someone, “Have you stopped beating your wife yet?” Without giving them the option of answering, “I have not now or have I ever beat my wife.” instead they have to answer Yes or No.

Prisoners truly have an actual right to health care. Once you are in jail you would be accorded state provided health care. Odd but it serves its purpose.

I do not care! LET THEM! If Americans are not willing to defend the Constitution that was purchased and defended at such a high price and demand that any national health care, in any form not be allowed to become law, then I blame the people not the damn politicians. If you leave money on a desk while a thief is in the house and he steals it, he is only doing what comes naturally to him. It is your fault, put the money away and kick the damn thief out of the house or it is our fault.

While Social Security and Medicare are also unconstitutional, the people depending upon those programs have a right to insist the government keep its promises, while we also phase out these unconstitutional programs as well. Then make sure absent a constitutional amendment no such national social programs can ever be allowed to become law again.

I don't want to hear any bitching and moaning about this, either do something like kick anyone supporting these programs out of office or shut the hell up and take it up the poop shoot and to hell with liberty and the Constitution.
